You could tell it was an AI voice. When they ask "Is this _______________" I say "WHO IS THIS?" Don't recall the name. But the voice wanted me to take a survey......."CLICK"
Anyone talk to this "thing"? Did a quick lookup and Quantell it was said they ask leading questions.
?

ALL calls that are no in my contacts get voice mail for me also. If its something I care about they will leave a message and the phone tells me. If the same # calls a few times and leaves nothing it gets set to not even ring just goes to voice mail.

LOL. Yeah, I usually do just that. If they don't leave a message their never going hear MY voice. This time i didn't have my glasses handy, TV was off, and i thought. Whet the heck. Maybe it's someone I'd want to talk to! Maybe I won something? :s0112:

Caller id and call screening are your friends. Unrecognized numbers or numbers not in my contact list go to voicemail. If it's important they leave a message. If it's something I need to deal with I provide a return call. Otherwise it goes into the bit bin.

I have so many phone numbers on my block list, I cannot remember the last time I received a robo-call.
Last week, someone from India called me about getting Comcast service. They're now on my block list too. Comcast's tech service from India was so atrocious back in 2016, I canceled their service an have never looked back.

For the record, I've not gotten a political survey call
In more that 15 years…. And I've never received a jury duty notice. Guess they don't want to hear from a conservative….

The number comes up on my Cordless/Landline hand piece screen. I couldn't see the number without my glasses, there was bad light, the first time. They had the nerve to call back again about an hour later. This time I saw who it was from. I answered, hit talk, and sat the phone down and went back to house cleaning.

When my youngest was a toddler, we would simply give her the phone and let her babble on…

Back when we had land lines I used to like to make game of that. Get a call, asking for me, I would say "let me get him". Set the phone down. Come back in a few and ask if they had spoken to Alex? They would say no and try to give me a pitch. I was already putting the phone back down after saying again, let me find him. Some of them would hang on for a long damn time :s0140:

Back when we had land lines ...
Back then I'd say "I'm busy right now. If you'll give me your home phone number I'll call back during the night." My wife said I was being rude. So I quit answering the phone altogether and let her run the length of the house. Then she decided to get an answering machine, so she wouldn't miss any 'important calls' while I ignored the phone. Finally, late in life, cell phones came along that were smaller than a brick and we got rid of the land line.

Between the Do Not Call list, and my enthusiasm in forwarding all annoying messages to [email protected], my phone rarely rings anymore. Some people have figured out it is easier to first call my wife to see if I'm around.

Robokiller is your friend. Doesn't answer spam and plays back messages to keep spammers on the line. It's all done in the background you just see who's calling and that's all.

This has been my anti-spam message for years. You can listen to the spammers response on the recording. Some of the spammers replies are damn funny.

You can also record your own if you want. I thought this one was funny:

I get texts from these smokin hot Chinese chicks all the time.

Usually, I amuse my self by asking for ridiculous stuff. I asked that one to sell me a cardboard aircraft carrier.
