The 2 places I mentioned in the add charge $15 for the transfer and of course the BGC is $10.
What place charges just $10?

I usually do all mine either at NW Armory or Curts. They've always only charged me $10 and I've done several just in past few years. 5 this year so far

Yeah "Some people" are on drugs if they believe shops are doing straight BGC charge ($10) for a person to person transfer at their shop. "Someone" obviously means "[it's $10] when he buys a weapon from the shop"

My local shop South Sound Guns in Lacey only charged $10 for person to person for about a year now, prior to that it was free for a long time, this week they raised the price to $20. The idea was that they would have the seller in the shop at the sales counter with a fat wad of cash they just received, waiting for paperwork etc, and youd impulse buy something out of their inventory, believe me it works they got me a couple of times.

No drug smoking here, it's a smart business plan people came into the shop all the time for transfers. It was free for a long time, just started charging after bgc laws changed in WA last July.

They only raised the price to $20 now because they cant get inventory. Nothing left to sell in the store but services lately. Their gun counters, walls, ammo and parts were straight cleaned out like tp in April.

Oregon State charges $10 per background check because Oregon State Police (OSP) conducts the checks themselves. So every time a LGS conducts a background check, they are charged $10 per check by OSP. I dont think WA has such a thing, so South Sound Guns gets to keep their $10/$20 per transfer.

It's a terrible business plan- there's a lot of work and time invested in keeping FFL records. Giving away your labor in the hopes of making a sale is what you do when you're trying to capture market share- it's not a sustainable model- as your example shows.
