I must be missing something here. Wood alcohol is what is sold as rubbing alcohol. When this hoax got going the rubbing alcohol was wiped out in stores to use as sanitizer. Now the stuff that is sold as hand sanitizer is made with the kind of alcohol in drinks. It's basically very potent vodka with some perfume in it. So it can and is drank by people who want to get drunk. Since when did rubbing alcohol become hazardous to get on your skin? I thought that was what it was for?

Ethanol is whats safer to drink. Methanol is the toxic, simplest alcohol.. seems one of the alcohol enzymes, dehydrogenase turns methanol into formaldehyde

Yep I knew you could not drink Methanol, normally known as wood alcohol. That's whats in those bottles marked rubbing alcohol. So if people are not supposed to get rubbing alcohol on their skin exactly what is it bought for?

I've never seen methanol listed as an ingredient for rubbing alcohol.. at least not in the ones sold by Wal Mart and Walgreens Always Ethanol.

Edit. My 91% alcohol is Isopropyl Alcohol. It doesnt say rubbing alcohol
Lemme see if I can find what makes isopropyl

No. Wood alcohol (Methanol) is not rubbing alcohol. IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) is rubbing alcohol and also what is used in hand sanitizer. Ethanol can be used, but is drinking alcohol, so generally it sells better as "grain alcohol" as it can sell for more $

OK, I finally just looked it up and now I see what's going on. The methanol is not rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol is of course not drinkable either but the Methanol is a different version used as a solvent.

As far as I know, it is toxic when ingested or absorbed thru the skin.

What I have is "denatured" alcohol, which is mostly ethanol, but can contain methanol too.
