I am not resaling ammo, but I am a proud Capitalist. and I am sick oh hearing all of this cry baby crap about losing the race to the ammo shelves and then complaining about having to pay for it.

Be first or pay a little extra. That is one of the founding principals of this great country of ours.

Sometimes I think that some of you would be happier if the Government took to rationing ammo so that you could each get your fair share.

Don't get me wrong. I have very little ammo on my shelves at home and I get annoyed that I can rarely find it when I am looking for it. But I would never hold a grudge against a fellow American who is trying to turn a profit as a result of my tardiness.
This thread was started to share info on where we can find ammo, so let's keep sharing out secret stashes and quit worrying about socialists, capitalists, price gouging and focus on enjoying the shooting sports and sharing it with others.

This is a community here. I think Mac was referring to this forum, not the country as a whole. It does kind of go against the whole "brother looking out for brother" mindset on which this forum was created. I'm not saying that it is wrong to buy up all you can and then once it's gone, step the prices up a notch. That is how a lot of people make a lot of money (Go Capitalism!) but here it's a little different. I wouldn't buy all the doughnuts in the store and then go to my church and charge twice what I paid for them. Why? Because I look out for the people I care about. It's like that here... for the most part:D

I'm not trying to be a cry-baby, just a like minded brother in arms.

Communism ....a theory advocating elimination of private property b. a system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed

No not at all really. No one has advocated for elimination of private property.
Also no one has asked for commonly owned freely acessible ammo.
Just ammo on the shelves would be fair enough. Still achievable in a free and capitalist economy. Such as the one we have. But I feel as many feel. Disenfranchised by our fellow gun owners. Yes it is your right and maybe your duty to capitalize. Make some money sure go ahead no one can stop it. But what about your fellow gun owners who will go without shooting there favorite guns tomorrow for lack of ammo. Cause there not able to pay the higher prices. Because there layed off. Or have a family to take care of. Before you take your given right to capitalize. Remember you have alot of friends out there you havent met yet, let them shoot too...

Bravo! (Wipes tear) Bravo!

I get it, I did not go shooting today for that very reason. I am afraid to shoot the ammo that I have when I do not know if I will be able to buy more tomorrow. It is very frustrating.

I have been reading a lot of gun forums lately and have spent entirely too many hours on this one in particular. I am constantly reading one person chewing out another because they are trying to get a higher price for what they have. I believe that if you do not want to pay what ever price, don't.

It feels to me like the "elimination of private property" if I have to sell my product at the price that you are predetermining or face insult and ridicule. If you want to determin the price of my product don't buy it until it reaches the price you are willing to pay.

I feel the need to say again that I am not selling ammo. I just do not like the fact that their is no free market here.

You are very correct there. Even if you feel the prices are insulting just move on "threadcrapping" wont help. To be honest im sure everyone can understand the guys trying to make money. I feel personally insulted at some of the prices ive read. But i just gotta suck it up and move on comment free of course.

Oh yeah Wal Mart in Woodburn had CCI Stingers today. Only about 10 boxes left on the shelf. I got some. i can make my mosquito pop a little this weekend.

I think there is absolutely a free market here. I have 1500 rounds of 7.62x39 for sale here for $525 and have had little interest. If I don't have any buyers, I'll drop the price. No one is forcing me to sell it for $400 even though that may be all anyone wants to pay. If someone wants to go on my post and complain about my price, so be it. All they're doing is making themselves out to look like a Jacka$$. No biggie here. We're a family here, and we're gonna have our spats. That's the way it goes. We blow off some steam and move on and grow. I've had some choice words with some people on here and now a lot of them are good buds. Doesn't mean we're socialist, capitalist, communist or whatever.

On a side note does it make me a commie sympathizer if I rooted for Ivan Drago over Rocky Balboa in Rocky IV? I've always wondered. CCCP! J/K

I was at a local Bimart the other day, and the helpful fellow at the ammo counter told me that the shortage in ammo is due to a couple main factors. First, the military contracts take up most of the calibers commonly used for the war effort. Second, well, everybody knows we are stocking up so much ammo in general that the production cannot keep up with civilian and military demand. The interesting thing is that he also told me that on May 6th, the military contract will be put on a hiatus in an attempt to restock the civilian market. Once there is a supply for the civilian sector again, the military contract will resume. Has anybody heard anything similar to this? It sure would be nice if it were true, and hopefully prices would get back to a more normal level.

I have had 2 instances on forums from guys who post their prices, then when you get there to buy them, they jack up the prices even more, saying they got better offers from others and they'ld be stupid not to take it instead of keeping their word on a deal. I will just wait for the stores to get some as some guys have lost their dignity and morals over the mighy $$$. Some of the guys I talk to on this forum have had the same dealings.

Ugg, I hope you walked away from those deals. If the person is doing that, then they aren't worth dealing with. This ammo frenzy will be over soon, the manufacturers are going to catch up soon! We are already in MUCH better shape than a month ago.

I predict that by the end of the summer, ammo will be easy as pie to buy again, assuming the feds don't do somethign nefarious.

If it happened on here, you can give them a negative transaction review and say what they did, so other buyers know.
