I finally managed to get my non-shooting sister to the range. She works at an Oregon university and was against guns. With the help of her husband we got her to shoot several guns. Have you ever watched a non-shooter try to get a lever action to shoot more than once? Anyway she loved shooting the varmint ar. She was laughing as she disintegrated clays with it. She told me later that she was having lunch with some of her co-worker and the subject of banning "assault rifles" came up. She said, "Like the AR? That is my favorite gun to shoot. Accurate, low recoil and lots of fun.". So take your non-shooting friends and family to the range, until they shoot them they are just evil black guns, just like the media told them.
