I've got a fairly new 9mm Colt Defender with around 500 rounds through it. It started 'stove-piping' and it was suggested that the extractor was the problem. I replaced it with a Wilson Combat 'tougher than nails' extractor.

I fired a few clips through it and it ran fine. Now it is 'stove-piping' almost every round.:huh:

I have no problem sending it back to Colt; just hoping it's a simple problem that I can, or someone locally can, easily fix. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Frog.

Does it do it on every round?

What's the ejection pattern look like?

Dropping all the cases is pretty much the same area, or are they scattered?

Yes every round, which means there is no ejected casing pattern.

The extractor is not handling the case properly. Just verifying, that you obtained a 9mm extractor?

Other causes are poor grip, and with those shorty style models...recoil spring.

The short models can be a real pain. If they run, they run...if they don't, the can be a real problem child.

If you can bring it up to me, I'll look it over...no charge. Just bring the old extractor with you.
