I'm a manufacturer of ammo as most of you know and just like everyone else need primers, lots and lots of primers. Mostly small pistol but could use them all. Here are a couple of the "deals" I've been offered lately.
Small pistol primers from Argentina $200.00/ 1000 and I must order 100K and pay up front. The last CCI primers I got a month or so ago were $32.00/1000 shipped to my door.
Next a company is setting up to make ammo and componates including primers in Texas and I can get in on the ground floor, call to discuss the particulars. I didn't call.
Lastly I can join a a buying consortium or co-op. All I need to do is contribute primers to the group and then I guess we'll all sing Kumbyaha. I have no primers to make ammo let alone give away.

Again memories seem to be amazingly short. Last panic when ammo could not be made fast enough primers of course could not be made fast enough either. Or powder, or bullets. When shelves finally filled with ammo, before long shelves were filled with primers. So full places like Midway would have them on sale a lot. Some times waving Haz-Mat fee to get you to buy from them. No one wanted any. Now we yet another panic and shooters who lived through at least one, if not several of these panics, all act like this never happened before and will never be the "good old days again". Is it any wonder history keeps repeating its self? :s0092:

I know it's not ideal. AND corrosive, but I have had success with the prime all compound o_O with caps. So in a pinch I been using that. But as you can imagine, it's tedious. But in the face of paying as much for primers as factory ammo, it's all relative. Certainly more of a winter activity when more down time is available.
Wish we could have Canada send their stock piles here. I have found several places online with in stock primers only to find they're in another country. What does Canada need them for anyway?

I do keep hearing conflicting stories from big rock and vista and others saying we will have lots available in a day or so, then almost the same day, Oh it'll be a few weeks and the floodgates will be opened...

I have had luck, but it's really hit or miss and better be quick with the keyboard. I wish CCI would do the same as with their ammo and offer primers on their website instead of saying 'check with your local retailer" when the retailer limits us to one or two packs.
But then again, at least it's something.

At least it gives us more to talk about

I have plenty of ammo, but I was negligent in stocking my reloading supplies. I have enough for what little reloading I do (1K primers of each of the four sizes/types, which is enough for what I reload), but when things get back to "normal" I will be getting more primers and powder and projectiles, especially projectiles of different types.

I kinda want to get into casting and sawaging hardcasting etc. Mostly for pistol. I am looking forward to reloading process resuming. I still need to finish my 6.5 CreemS'more build and every thing else needed for that.

Sorry to hear it's that bad. A primer shortage for me is an inconvenience, for you it's a business problem. Hope this turns around soon.

Ive been seeing some production ammo online in places that have been dry for almost a year now. I wonder if there is a slight turn for the better happening and hope its an indicator of pulling out of this current ammo crunch ...I can hope.

Not just short memories about primers and ammo. Some scary "s" we have seen before in other places going on right here and right now brother.

You and me both, I like you guys, feel that it is getting a little better.
Have that brass packaged for you. Just kinda felt like with the shortages I wouldn't make it a priority sending it. No good paying for that brass if you don't have primers to load. Id hook you up with a couple thousand but shipping is a major pia. Im heading up that way in July. If things haven't changed by then I'll toss them in the truck and do a drive by with brass and primers ;)

Yes sadly its EVERYTHING in history that VERY few seem to ever learn from. The same things happen over and over. People who support the "stupid idea's" all seem to think its never been tried before
Socialism in any of the different flavors is a prime example of this. It fails every time its tried yet people line up to embrace it. Telling themselves its never been done "right", or never been done by "their people" or changing its name but, the result is of course always the same. :s0092:
Its one case were stupidity really is painful but, the problem seems to be it takes so long for the pain to hit people keep lining up to do it again, and again, and again. :s0054:
