The hammer on his Marlin has a flat hammer extension that tightens onto the hammer via a screw that's made to clear the scope when the hammer is cocked. They are very common on scoped levers.

Those are called a Marlin model 336, only differences between different configurations is mostly the lever styles and stock styles such as straight lever, curved lever forearm cap, versus barrel bands... etc and so on
