On the plus side, they're out and about. On another upside, it helps get rid of the stupid people when something happens while playing the game. On the downside, other people have to deal with them.

Nothing against pokemon (still play some of the games), but Pokemon Go is just stupid. Dedicating that much time to a game in general is stupid. Though I might be a hypocrite by spending a lot of time looking at gun porn on the internet.

LOL!!!
I guarantee that every kid on earth who can beg, borrow or steal access to a cell phone is playing pokemon go!

I would have loved to see that silly little betard's face!:D

I played a, go find it, game with my kid and grandkids! Used a compass, brief description and an azimuth! They really liked it! Doesn't sound as fun as pokemon, you say? Secret ingredient!;) I buried cash at each goal! Get them all, you'd win $10.00! All on public land under my supervision!:)

More like Poknprobe... (Google it, little NSFW flash animation made back when the Pokenutz started getting really obnoxious around 10-15 years ago.)

Would link, but with how folks been disappearin' I don't care to join 'em...

When I was a kid I was walking down the sidewalk with my dad not paying attention. The next thing I remember is picking my butt up off the sidewalk. I had beamed myself with a parking meter. My dad just started laughing. Sure gave me a reason to pay attention. Had a heck of a goose egg on my forehead
We all make mistakes hopefully you learn from them before they get too expensive.

So I will admit, what is this Pokemon thing?

A game where your smart phone acts as your navigation using gps and your camera.

You have to find and capture Pokemon and then to level them up into stronger versions you have to physically walk (driving voids it as your moving too fast) certain distances.

There are other things like schools and color factions but I don't play and that's the rudimentary understanding I have of it from my kid.

Look up "Central Park Pokemon Stampede" on YouTube and you'll be flabbergasted at the amount of non-kids are running in to try and catch a creature.

Lol!
I'm not sure I believe you.
NEVER underestimate the immaturity or obsessiveness of Gamer Culture whether physical or digital--I've seen people drop over $100 on single aircraft miniatures from a WWI biplane game I'm a consultant on. (Most I paid was $50 for a particular nuisance that was the last one needed to complete my collection at that point... since then I've kept up with releases as they come out and only dropped $8-15 each.)

@JRuby Try getting smacked in the head with a frickin' SUBMARINE! :p

Granted, my collection of WWII naval miniatures is downright scary... but that's because I was trying to build a complete set of all the world's major combatants (cruiser and up) for the entire war along with destroyer and air forces big enough to reenact the largest engagements unit-for-unit. :)

Then again, I *am* an aspiring History prof who plans to use wargaming as a teaching tool just as many military academies have for centuries, so there is a legitimate functional reason for my horde. :) (Plus, you know how some guys are about chasing down every nitpicky variation of Garand... :D )

Lots of adults are playing, I see them every day in front of my work always wandering in a certain area. Pretty sad and most these folks will will vote for you know what.
SHould be at the range perfecting that "pokey hole with smokey stick!"

Brutus Out

Lol!
I'm not sure I believe you.

I have the good fortune to have a wife that keeps up with all of the new fads my kid is into. Yes, she plays the game as well and that's how I know anything about the game:p. She has been stalking my daughter ever since she got on the internet years ago;). We have always tried not to be the clueless parental types.

Better her then me says I:cool:.

She says the same thing about guns and our protection so it works out for us.

Hot damn. The pokemon hate is out in force. Of all communities, you would think the firearms community could give them the benefit of the doubt. It's perfectly ok if pokemon go isn't your speed. Fun fact, it isn't really meant for the 50 year old hobo commando. Dismiss it as a fad all you want but currently it's more popular than twitter. If that fact isn't enough to convince you that some people find value and entertainment out of it, then you are being just as ignorant as Feinstein. As far as stupid bubblegum. Ya, stupid bubblegum is going to happen when there is literally millions playing. Blaming the game on the decisions of a couple of stupid people is like blaming guns because of a mass shooting. And for the record, let us be real here, don't tell me you didn't do stupid unsafe bubblegum as a kid. This is pretty tame compared to poor decisions we all made when we were kids with bb guns.

Hey, I'm not throwing stones about the game period... just how obsessive some people are about it when they get to the point of interfering with practical responsibilities. :)

With just *one* of my miniatures collections being in the Top Ten for its product-line WORLDWIDE, costing several thousand dollars over four years to build and over ten thousand individual pieces, I ain't got a lotta room to talk, other than never having let it get in the way of gettin' what needs doin' done. :)

Sorry, but when a game has people stepping in front of moving vehicles, leaning over other people's dinners, wandering onto other people's property, etc, etc, it's stupid. Simple as that.
I don't care what game you or anyone else plays as long as it doesn't affect others. But why should the "firearms community" be supportive of some ridiculous game that causes it's players to interfere with the lives of others? I missed that part of your logic.
