So form 1 for an 80% can, sort of. Seems on the up and up, so why all the solvent trap talk? Marketing? This is obviously not flying under the ATF radar.

The ATF's position SEEMS to be ( Not like they'd actually tell you ) That as long as they are not advertised or promoted as silencer parts and if all other laws are followed they leave the sellers and buyers alone. Several sellers have been raided and shut down for trying to push the limits. Selling tubes to buyers in Canada will get your shop raided. Putting up instructions on how to convert will get you raided. Holding build parties for groups even with their form 1's in hand will get you shut down. Several sellers have been shut down. If they manage to catch the solvent trap stuff in customs they will confiscate it and send out a "love letter" to the recipient stating their item has been seized and that you can file a bond etc and go to court to challenge their seizure. Follow the narrow set of unpublished and ever "evolving" rules and they seem to leave sellers and buyers alone.

Thanks for the tips, I am thinking of just doing the thread on route. Ideally, I'd like to "set it and forget it" - thread it on and leave it except for cleaning. Even better would be if it fit under the hand guard but that might be asking a bit much for a first time 80% build :D
