I have read that LEVO dropped the "Assualt Weapon" ban IP18 because they expected the Oregon Legislature to pass similar legislation in the 2023 session.

I wonder if Measure 114 is the first punch to prevent us from stocking up on firearms that would be banned under new legislation? 2023 is a long session year so if the antis continue to hold power they might try to finally get this done?

Has anybody here seen any recently proposed Oregon legislation that would ban semi-autos like IP18 would have? If so who was the sponsor of it?

I hope Drazan gets in, she would have veto power.

Could be, Although one can stock up on said firearms before 114 would fully go into effect should it pass.
Maybe but they might not have much time to do so? And if they are not expecting an "Assualt Weapons" ban to be passed in 2023 they might not feel the urgency to do so.

If the antis win big tomorrow, I will definitely be preparing for an IP18 like ban to happen in 2023.

They landed the first punch. Will the next punch (semi-auto ban) come from Salem or will Rev knutter have to rally his troops again for another Measure in 2024? He clearly has deep financial backing now. That means he can afford to wait until after the 2023 session, to see if they can get an s/a ban done.

In my view it will get done one way or the other. Now that purchasing firearms will be more difficult I am thinking about ways people can stock up before a semi-auto ban takes effect. If Salem passes a ban, it could happen in the summer as they will no doubt label it a piece of emergency legislation.

If you would like to stock up on 80% AR lowers or 80% pistol frames consider partially completing them and make them capable of firing at least one round. It would be better to finish them but in a pinch making them capable of expelling a projectile will make them legally a firearm and weapon that can be grandfathered in. That may mean registering them if registration is included in the legislation (99.99% likely).

"Ghost" gun legislation is another possibility so if you catch wind that might happen, buy 80% blanks asap.

EVERY gun law is passed with the full knowledge it will do nothing for crime. Its why the people pushing the laws also push to NOT lock up scum. The whole idea is for the laws to not work so they can come back for another one. Little by little we get closer to becoming like the UK with gun owners supporting it.

And based on the previous statement(s), rather than stock up on victimized firearms, how about us putting our money where our collective mouths are, on getting out the word to EVERYBODY we know, about this travesty of power and the manipulation of the masses. We must start with those on our side, and then proceed toward the leftists. Bit by bit, whether we use truth and logic (our normal methods) or 'their' methods of outright fear and threats, we have to do something. To do otherwize is to light that slow-burning fuse to socialism.

We've got people here running around marking magazines and taking pictures, or buying guns instead of sending $20 to groups fighting this nonsense. It's hard to not be disgusted with some gun owners. Can't believe how many at gun shows commenting that more training was a good thing, or that they "don't bug other people" about gun related politics, so didn't want any brochures or handouts to give out. I even had some pushback from pawn shops and a gun store about leaving a handout on the gun counter to remind people to donate, or to call and email politicians. Some would rather sit in the corner and cry than actually do something worthwhile. From my experience, it's a small portion of people that actually participate.

They are hoping that Portland tops 100 murders this year so they have more fuel for gun grabbing.

If our liberal POS DA would do his job and put these lowlifes away, the total number of murders would be less.

Take this fine Portlander for example

Thomas Nathaniel Tibball Booked 9/12/2020 Felon in possession of a firearm

Again on 2/10/2021 Felon in possession of a firearm, pointed a gun at a woman.

Oh, look he finally killed someone

Tibball was previously convicted of attempted robbery in 2015, according to court documents.

What a wonderful member of society. I am sure he must have been just getting his life together and ready to go off to college. Better let him back out with no bail so he can continue to be such a productive member of society in Potland. 🤬

Speaking of one-two punches.

If they pass any sort of bill that requires background checks (one time, annually, etc) for previously owned firearms, will P2P be required to initiate background check?

You gotta know it's coming. They never give up.

IP18 did require registration of semi-autos but I don't think it addressed whether background checks were required to register them? I heard WA state is trying to pass legislation that would require regular background checks for firearm owners. I am wondering if Oregon passed simliar legislation if a P2P would be required to initiate the background check?

Just a clarification... if you want to convert your oddly shaped chunks of metal/plastic 80%'s into a firearm, it's not necessary for them to be capable of triggering a firing sequence at all.

Under the alphabet's new frame and receiver rule, simply scratching or marking a point somewhere on them to indicate where a hole needs to be made is enough to convert them from an "oddly shaped chunk of metal/plastic" to a "firearm".

Work smarter, not harder if you got a pile of em. 🤣

I'm sure Biden would defend him or weigh in on the matter... You know, like Obama. If Biden "had" a son he would've looked/acted a lot like Tibball.
Wait...naw, that wouldn't happen. Biden already has a criminal son. Sorry, my mistake.

Actually, maybe it could happen! It's Hunter's long lost twin!!
Or Hunter's half brother; the Biden son no one likes to talk about.
