Made a video of the process as well.

IMG_0486.JPG My bed frame IMG_0501.JPG shoe rack i made for my mother in law IMG_0567.JPG wall gun case, the bottom stripes fold down for the AR and the stars fold out for a pistol IMG_0571.JPG coffee table i made just for a project, $200 if anybody is interested

Latest thing I made will take a video to show off. Its a double pivot screw jack for opening and closing the Windshield Vent in a Willys 3A jeep windshield frame.

How has this project come since? That looks fascinating!
I've pretty much shelved it until such time as I have the resources to produce it myself. I've contacted a number of manufacturers in the past hoping to license it but generally no response. I did get an inquiry from Remington asking to see my prototype to test. So, I sent their engineering dept. one just before I heard the news that they were folding. After a couple of months I inquired if they'd had time to test it. They hadn't. After a couple of more months, I figured if they were going to look at it, they'd have done so by now so I asked them to send it back which, thankfully, they did. So, on to other things. A lot older and maybe a little smarter. It was a very interesting project getting it to function but not being independently wealthy, I can't pursue it past the working prototype stage for now.

If everyone will indulge me plugging my wife's work, Mrs. USMC-03 sews and makes small bags and sunglass cases. The fabric is mainly Disney theme but she does other stuff also. It's still in the hobby stage but she is selling online mainly. If anyone needs a few gifts I would be very happy to pass on contact information. Thanks.

A big lathe for turning tenons on the end of logs. I designed and built it for a guy I know that made log furniture. It swings 24" x 10ft. A 3 hp spindle running a carbide molder head does the cutting. It fed the cutter head along as the log turned and automatically stopped the feed at a preset length. It turns coaxial ends of any diameter from about 1.5" up to about 8". Made a nice clean flare out from the tenon diameter to the rough log. Somewhere I have photos of the finished painted machine but I didn't have a digital camera back then and haven't been able to find them. log tenon machine.jpg

A few things I have made recently. The one with the maple and paracord handles are 1095 And the Walnut handled one is O1. Personally I didn't want to leave it in that rough a state, but a friend insisted they wanted hammer marks and to make it look rustic.

Made a small test batch (6 bottles) of Cyser with Maple Syrup, it should be carbonated and ready to try this weekend, but at ~14% ABV I might have to let them age for another month or so.

Door doctor strikes again, by far the widest entry doors I've done. Also installed some rustick deck railing with "horse wire" inserts for building code.

This was a customer piston a dude brought me to carve up.
This one is huge and weighs about 15lb.
It would be about $230 if I sold one similar.
Normal sized units like these 3 are much less expensive.
I do them weekly and sell them on my ebay under shifty217.
You can find me on Instagram as

I have been doing a lot of Harley pistons.
