That reminds me, I have some surplus 8mm ammo that I need to put up on the trader here. It's amazing how expensive old surplus is nowadays; I can beat their price on Turkish 8mm.

Nowadays I typically just shoot my own reloads. I do have a few hundred rounds of grungy Spanish 8mm ammo from the 1950's, that I shoot through the FN49 when I know I'm going to clean it well. I also have several hundred rounds of Canadian 8mm from the same time period, have been hanging onto it since it's non-corrosive and boxer primed. As I recall I bought both of these back in the early '90s from Paragon, if anyone remembers them.
I remember Paragon from the '80's, did a lot of business with them back in the day...

It's been a while, so..

A Romanian contract Vz-24 that I got on trade from a member here. Needed a few bits, but I'm happy with it now that it is complete.

And a Polish crested Wz-29 that was posted recently . It also needed some bits, like a proper Polish bolt, but result is also pretty good.

Love these oldie and rare Mauser types from the 20's and 30's! The Polish are particularly rare, due to one thing and another....

Because I like projects.

1938 Berlin-Lübecker ( S/237) K98k, sporter rescue with matching barrel+receiver+bolt+trigger guard and magazine bits. Minelli's repro walnut stock. Still needs some Waa26 bands, so if you have one in your parts bin, I'm interested.

So I didn't like the stock looking so nice. It's a repro, but there are techniques to do an "aged look" so here is an update.

Same 1938 BLM K98k, in a Minelis repro walnut stock, refinished.

Great Idea. Actually, I had thought about that a number of years ago, but as things are, life got in the way. So, on your suggestion, I just sent an email to the CMP to see if they could help.

Thanks
No....the CMP charges $25. I would start with the free FOIA request first. Tomorrow I will dig up the email and form letter to send.

So here are the last two rescues.
Top is a Smith Corona i picked up at auction that had been sporterized. Luckily no holes added to reciever and original barrel still. Just got the stock done and fitted up. Muzzle measures out at 1.5-2.0 and bolt closes snug on a go guage so should be a great shooter.
Lower is a Remington I got at a pawn shop. Rebarreled it awhile back.
Pics aren't great phone camera is on the fritz.

Carcano Model 1941. Picked up a couple of weeks ago and probably my last acquisition for a long while unless the 114 nonsense is overturned.

Antique 1941 Sako m39. Immaculate bore and blueing. Stock appears to have been "glossed up" unfortunately.
With M114 around the corner, I guess i'll be focusing on antique milsurp from here on out...

I posted on here a number of years ago and have added to my collection of M1 Carbines. Been wanting to post an update so this rainy day I figured it's time. Also thinking of down sizing.
I believe that only one carbine is a shooter grade. All other are collectible grade. None have import markings. Been collecting them since the 90's and now their getting really hard to fine in collectible condition.
Anyway here's afew pics of what I have. Did find another in the closet that didn't make the photo shot. Hope you enjoy the pics
