Finally got the DPP rear Dawson sight on. Looks better and worked great.

Awesome piece of history! Have you ever shot it??
Finally got it out to shoot yesterday. I replaced the barrel link and barrel link pin. The pin was so worn it would just fall out on its own. Shot some 1964 military ball thru it (2 magazines worth) and not a single malfunction. Much respect to the folks that have good groupings with these sights....as I aint one of them LOL....minute of bad guy was about as good as I could do.

Nothing terribly special but this was my grandfathers, and he passed it to me on his death. Classic Colt Government from the early 70s. Shoots incredibly smooth and accurately. Had some gunsmithing done to it a few years back to increase reliability with lighter loads (200gr). Look fwd to passing it down to my children.

1970's series 70. I bought it new and it sat in the safe for over 40 years. I decided to sell it a few years ago as I'm a classic Sig guy. I think I was asking $900. One guy drove 200 miles to purchase it but when he seen the serial number (it had a 666 in it) he declined. After a couple more years I though I might as well try shooting it. I couldn't make it through a full mag without 1 or 2 jams. I got on the 1911 website and those guys had me sorted after a few weeks. I put target sights on it when it was new but I still have the originals.

If you wanna sell it now, I'd be a player. Old school cool.
