LOL.
Is "Defund the Police" still his (and the Council's) mantra?

BUT, But, but.......Ted says it's not his fault.

Aloha, Mark

Lets see - whats next? Curfews, limited travel around the city ? Only able to leave the house when absolutely necessary?

I'm seeing Covid style 'safety measures' possibly being applied to a new problem.

Ye shall reap what ye sow.
Stupid policies of the socialist Portland city government have yielded their painfully predictable results.

Portland's mayor declares state of emergency due to historic levels of gun violence

Portland mayor seeks $2 million to stem rampant gun violence (yahoo.com)

Does anyone know if under a state of emergency we can no longer carry in Portland?
That was a thing in some places following natural disasters.
I don't give a SH!T about Portland's laws which are never enforced anyway.

Poeple often don't even stop at red lights or stop signs now I'm finding. It's going to get worse, it's a downward spiral. Why should I pay attention to any of their unconstitutional gun laws?

F THEM and especially dickhead Wheeler.

I think a mayor can only declare a city of emergency, not a whole state.
Any time prick Wheeler declares anything poeple just laugh. As soon as he started downtown curfews people just laughed and totally ignored it. The problem with Wheeler and his ilk is they like to pass laws and declarations but they have no balls to ever do anything or enforce against any sort of crime. Everyone knows it's just a joke.

The scariest part of all this is the multi tiered legal system. Depending on amount of money and even political statuses are determining factors in how much of the system gets thrown at you.

Poor gangbanger or homeless person has nothing to lose. Rarely gets prosecuted.

Rich people usually get passes because they can afford to play the game.

The rest of us get the full power of the law thrown at us.

You forgot to mention the thugs allied with those in power, who use them to intimidate the public. They also get passes. For instance, BLM and Antifa.

I have no idea what it costs to jump through the hoops and do the basic legwork in investigating a shooting.
However, I am quite certain if cash rewards in the neighborhood of 10K-$15K were offered for info leading to the arrest and conviction of some of these shooters, future shootings would slow, and arrest rates would dramatically increase.
I would think the money saved in investigation time would be well spent funding the reward fund.
Methinks $10-$15K would bring out the rats, as well as get a little paranoia going amongst the gang culture.
Also, the penalties imposed should be the those that yield the most positive results, and not the easiest to achieve or the most politically expedient.
Law enforcement and the administration of justice go hand in hand, but the justice aspect needs to be prioritized .
Best,
Gary

Didn't Wheeler chase away a bunch of Law Enforcement?

Now he wants to stop crime by punishing the Lawful and Responsible gun owner?

I do a lot of service work in and around Portland and it is a Complete SheetHole now.

I declare my lawn will start mowing itself, I'll let you know how that works out.

You can legally shoot up heroin while sitting on the steps of a local business in Portland. His "state of emergency" means d!ck.

He just needs more cones...

It actually does address more traffic cones in the form of "traffic revisions", along with park rangers and social workers. I was a bit surprised that statistics were included regarding population percentage in relation to gun crime percentage. No matter who, those charged with violent felonies should be required to stand trial for all relevant charges, no pleas to lesser charges. Mandatory sentences for those convicted, with consecutive terms added for use of a firearm during a violent felony, should be the norm. Until people realize that it is no longer about rehabilitation, but removing and isolating those who are a danger to society, nothing will change.
