When I was in the police academy several of us were "volunteered" to work at a local gun buyback in Dunbar. After a full weekend of work and several thousand dollars (they actually gave out cash...$50-$75 per gun if I remember correctly...which I am sure went straight to buy milk and eggs and not drugs) they managed to collect a nice pile of bent shotguns and broken .22 pistols. Of course the local politicians and sheriff laid out a big tarp on the ground and filled it with pistols and rifles from the seized weapons locker at the local police department. They even sweetened the pot with several of the new semi-auto rifles that belonged to the department itself. They then allowed all the local reporters to do their reports standing in front of the huge haul.

Just more proof that it is all a sham. The whole thing stinks of rotten libtard socialist. Any one that participates in my personal opinion, a progressive libtard.

I do think that there is a need for people to be able to safely dispose of their firearms and I don't think this is a bad idea. Do I think there will be a lot of criminals lining up to turn in their stolen guns, no. Do I think Sammy will use this as a publicity stunt, of course. I'm sure there are some folks out there for whatever reason have firearms that they want to dispose of and now have a resource they can utilize.

Wish we could catch ceasefire on a technicality. In theory, they are actually purchasing the guns from the people. What if some of the Ceasefire people are not allowed to own weapons? What about receiving stolen merchanise????

C'mon you legal aces, there must be something here!? Where are they having this debacle? No weapons on city or metro property right???

NO WAY will I give them my Jennings...even if I am embarrassed to say that I actually own one.

Actually, the Jennings .22s work really well with CCI Stingers and a firm grip (no limpwristing allowed!).

They can safely dispose of unwanted firearms by utilizing pawn shops, gun shops or online forums. Why do they have to turn them into a 'resource' that will destroy them?

Let's all put on the baddest, blackest clothes we have including black stocking caps, sling a black rifle over our shoulders and a couple ammo belts and a big hog on the waist belt and go stand in line.

When we get to the front of the line we just say "sorry, I changed my mind."

I was trying to understand that a while back. I can't understand at all how a firearm owner would be OK with participating in such PC crap that does nothing but help the anti's (excuses such as fleecing them) Yea, your giving them a crap gun, but your not fleecing them, there fleecing you. Wake up.

And we are to trust in the police? Man that story sucks! I believe you, but to know that information doesnt help in Citizen/LEO trust. The Truth hurts.

I really dont understand why cities do this... as mentioned above... yes the GF of the convict in the pen, will be getting some money and offing a stolen gun. There is little benefit. When convict gets out, Im quite confident he willl pick up another one. And yes, what criminal is going to turn in his gun. All they are doing is picking up the ones people forgot about, or were given in wills and such.

So you get a gift card that works like a credit card.

The police dont take your name or even check the legalness of the firearms turned in.

You go merrily about your shopping two days later and when checking out you have an issue with the card. The store asks you to wait while they try to clear it up.

Now the police show up to bust you for turning in a stolen firearm.

Who's to say they dont keep track of the gift card number in relation to the firearm turned in..........:s0131:

Kind of like the old story of giving out false prize winning info to friends of wanted people, show up to claim prize and bust ya.

Am I understanding correctly that the gift certificates are being donated and not purchased with public funds? If the mayor is already wasting tax payer time and there is potential tax payer money at waste even more angry emails need to go out.

I thought Portland was so flush with money they can afford to provide these wonderful services.:s0002: Something tells me the grabbers at ceasefire don't have much in the way of funds. If the city is spending money for the guns, let the angry emails fly.

I wonder how many people are out shopping for toy guns at Goodwill for them to "buy-back"?
