Do 8 cop shootings trump stop-and-frisk concerns?
April 10, 2012 | 1:20 pm by Crain's New York Business

Eight New York City police officers have been shot in the past four months. Illegal guns from out of state “are turning our city into a shooting gallery,” Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told the New York Daily News this week. His department’s controversial stop-and-frisk polices uncovered 800 such guns last year. “There is a reason why we continue to be proactive on the street,” Mr. Kelly said. But critics of his stop-and-frisk practices say that tens of thousands of Constitutionally wrong searches conducted annually in mostly minority neighborhoods do not a single right make.

Does the spree of recent cop-shootings trump NYPD critics’ stop-and-frisk concerns?
