SEATTLE - A woman was bitten as she struggled with a suspect who was breaking into her car Sunday morning in the Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle, police said.
The incident began at about 8:15 a.m. Sunday when the woman spotted a female stranger breaking into her car near 31st Avenue NE and NE 85th Street, said Seattle police spokesman Jonah Spangenthal-Lee.
The woman who owned the car grabbed the suspect in an apparent attempt to detain her until police arrived and ended up in a struggle with the other woman. During the fight, the suspect bit the victim, police said.
As the two women were struggling, a man who was apparently an accomplice of the suspect approached. He told the victim he had a weapon and ordered her to let go of his partner. Both suspects then fled.
Officers arrived at the scene and were able to track down the man, who was carrying a switchblade, but are still looking for the female car prowler.
Following the incident, officers recovered items stolen in at least one other car break-in in the area.
