Almost a paraphrase of what my son Jeff the airplane driver told me, although he called it a "box". He had no doubt the F-15s would have splashed the Q if Rich had flown out of the box toward populated areas. In addition, Jeff said that the unsung hero is actually the dead-calm ATC guy whose conversational suggestions for course corrections ("do me a favor") kept the Q in the box.
