have been doing a little research, an came across a great deal of opinions and articles about a company that tried to get it passed into law(somewhere USA) that police would have to use gun mounted DVR's (digital video recorders) as a hedge against police brutality.
with the diversity of comments i found scouring the internet... i thought i'd post a topic. I thought about buying one, but i'd better do some thinkin first. what do you folks think?... is this a bad idea for fella to have on his night stand gun...just in case? or is it a good idea, a little extra backup evidence should the unthinkable happen?

He'd have to scream "I'm gonna kill you..." More likely, they will take something you say in heat of moment and use it against you for a manslaughter charge. Also, what you see in dark or shadow probably will not show up on a micro camera. Prosecutor- "Where is the knife in his hand that you SAID he came at you with? How convenient it was lying right by his hand when the police arrived..."

Crazy talk! No thanks, one of those is not for me. I'm not concerned about this kind of thing at all. If I ever have to shoot somebody there will be good reason for it and if I'm imprisoned because of some twisted form of justice so be it. At least myself and my own will be alive and doing fine and one more bad guy is off the street.

I myself am much more concerned about being carried by 6 then tried buy 12... or however the saying goes.

"A new mini-camera attached to the barrel of a gun could soon provide important evidence in police-related shootings."

"attached to the barrel of a gun"

    "attached to the barrel"

    "to the barrel"

    Absolute idiocy.

If it doesn't add much weight, fantastic idea for training. Would let you know about snatching or jerking the trigger and flinching. I imagine it would be a great eye opener after a competition string. Not having the patience to obtain a proper sight picture would be obvious.

People are going to wonder why you thought to turn on your camera... I'm just after a light and being ready to fire if I'm that worried.

I think cops should have them, could make paperwork easier. Maybe not. Cool idea for making YouTube videos tho.

    Mounted to gun? No.

    Mounted to body? Maybe.

Required by law for civilians? Absolutely not.

Worst case, if you screwed up, you could just not say anything about the video and delete it. Nothing says you have to incriminate yourself.

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6

I work for a construction company that owns dump trucks and excavators that can reach down 6 ft in a single scoop 12 ft in 3-4 scoops. I will be the only one relating the story and there will be no need of a documentary.

I hear those work when you aren't home, and you can check on the perimeter with your smart phone. Seems like a good idea anyway.

Yeah, civilians no... LEO, maybe... Soldiers, well yeah.

PS: Mark, thanks for the offer? Or I'm glad you're set? Seems like a good way to save the state some money.

Got some at our house, every time motion occurs it notifies your phone, you can watch it from there
