That is a VERY open end question. A lot depends on what it is you are trying to get one done on. If its semi auto then it has to get the "assault weapon" clearance. If its a hand gun you get the wait for the CLEO to sign off. Even matters where in the County, since you need either the City or County CLEO buy off depending on where you live. Either in a city or in unincorporated.
Even with this there can be wild differences in the same classification. Since for some things it has to pass through multiple agencies to get the final OK.

That means it's just the back log for a handgun. The Fed's for years kept telling WA they had to set up their own system, like so many other states do. WA ignored them as the people in power do not care. Finally the Feds said we are done, you are on your own. So that did away with the CPL getting past the 10 business day wait.
Then the mass panic started and the backlog. Then the great hoax made it worse.
So. Some FFL's will let the hand gun walk after the 10 Business day wait as long as they do not get a delay or deny. This always sets a lot of people off who want to blame the FFL. The people who hold the FFL often are not willing to be the one taking all the risk if they let a gun go then later find out the buyer should not have had one. So, talk to your FFL. Little late now for you but, still talk to them. See what if anything they are willing to do. For others who read this. If you go to buy a hand gun ask the FFL first. How do they handle it if the County just does not get back to them. Will they let the gun walk? Will they give a refund? Make sure you are OK with the answer before money starts changing hands. Also this is VERY hit and miss. The same person can go to buy one week and all sails through. Then they go to buy a couple weeks late and it's a dumpster fire. Sadly you are dealing with a lot of Government workers who often just do not care because they do not have to care.
