In period accounts they are referred to a Pocket Pistols or a Muff Pistol.
Muff being a fur tube hand warmer....
I haven't seen the term Boot pistol in 18th or 19th century accounts....I think it is a 20th century sales term....

I never knew that was a 20th century term.
Just to sure, I dug out my 50+ year old 20th anniversary edition Gun Digest, which features the 1888-1889 edition catalogue for the JH Johnston Great Western Gun Works of Pittsburgh Penn'a and I couldn't find the term there, either (in fact, I thought that's where I got the term from). A lot of references to "vest pocket" pistols, but no Boot Pistols.

I had to look that one up.
FN licensed Swedish copy of the FN/Browning M1903.
Gun was produced from 1917 to 1942.
The lack of any mention of "Browning" on the slide dates your gun to after WWI.
Although shelved in the early days of WWII, it was brought back in the 1980's to serve as a temporary replacement for its own replacement, until that gun's permanent replacement was delivered.
Nice looking gun. Love the "Long Slide" look.

Oh I get it now,, its one of those optical illusion pictures. If you stare at it for awhile, sometimes a couple of minutes, eventually you will begin to see a gun. Don't give up ! you have to stare for quite awhile to eventually see it.

Bought this from my local gun store as he was going out of business (sad day) it's a .22 Zip gun - the manufacturer is called Zip gun it's based on the Ruger 10/22 action and uses the 10 round Ruger rotary or the 25 round mags.

Hold it with your palm at the end of the gun, middle finger in the lower triangle hole the trigger is like a straight pull 1911 (no where as nice)
