I don't know much about flintlocks, but from what I have seen, I, too, would think he used a bit much. Even his trigger hand looks to be in the burn zone.

Thanks to you, I not only saw it but had one ordered as well. It's been my experience with that vendor that it's kind of a gamble on what condition the parts you get are in. My luck has been about 50/50 between serviceable and junk, but for $60 I'm willing to roll the dice.
