Picking out an AK-47 parts kit

Well, looking at parts kits, It's obvious there are less and less on the market these days. Still, I want one. But I am always seeing kits with a "new" barrel" or no barrel. Is there and advantage or disadvantage of getting one of these? Are they harder or easier to put together?

these are still out there whatacountry.com still sells these numbers matching with barrels still in them, not too horribly priced
