Picked up a new Rem 770 from Big 5 for 299.99

    went with a friend to get a gun bag and walked out with my first bolt action.

    no one owns one of these here? I know the reviews of 710s are bad and there are plenty of negative reviews online for the 770.

    Oh well, I guess I will just have to shoot it to see how it performs.

    I trample through the dense forest with one of these, while it's not a 700, this in .270 shot like a dream off the shelf out to 200yds...

    It's a 7mm Rem Mag. it was the only one that was on sale.

    If your purpose is hunting and bringing home the meat it will take care of you. If you goal is to shoot the 1,000 yard benchrest you might want to trade up.

    Take care of it and it will last you a long time.

    yeah I am going to sight it in this Saturday and look in to hunting safety classes to get a hunting license/permit.

    Just read A LOT of bad reviews online and was wondering if anyone here had any experience. Hopefully all the quality issues were a thing of the past for 710 and has been addressed with the 770.
