I am all for background checks, I think every politician that runs for office should have a psychological evaluation as well as tested for cognitive abilities. Seems none in office right now have either. Having that done would probably effect the outcome of such polls.

I think you may overestimate the intelligence of the average person. Like Carlin said think how stupid the average person is and remember half of them are dumber than that.

I think those numbers are a little inflated though. I think Wa is a pretty good example of what we could expect nationwide. Wa has a liberal stranglehold on the biggest urban area with more rural areas made up of fierce Conservatives and Libertarians, and 59% approved 594. I would imagine that put to a nationwide vote, the numbers would be similar.

That being said, I fail to see how the stupidity of the American (or Washingtonian) voter nullifies my right to non infringement and private property rights, so I couldn't give a bubblegum less what they think.

A poll of 2,002 people can, in fact, be representative of 250,000,000 people. The statistical methods are valid and can be proven mathematically. However (and this is a big however), these statistical methods can and often are manipulated to skew the results to favor a certain political view.

And that's a big part of the problem. Simply changing how a question is asked can really alter the results. If you ask a question such as "Do you favor background checks so more children won't be murdered?", how are people to respond? If you say no, it appears you favor child killing. If you say yes to avoid looking like a child killer, you have now been added to the list of folks who support background checks.

Who they talk to, where they live, heck, even recent events in their local area can and will alter results.

I agree that, mathematically, you can use a small group to represent a large one, but I don't trust the folks that do this to actually provide a completely true and factual set of statistics.

Doing polls in places like Portland, Seattle or similar places will have a 180 degree difference in outcome than if it were done in Places like Chiloquin Oregon ir any city in rural areas. Putting questions to liberal retards pretty much assures a liberal retard outcome.

I absolutely hate that they are using political party affiliation, as though either party represents the ideals of left or rightism. Why not use Socialists and Libertarians? Your results would have been MUCH different.

All you have to do look at who did and sponsored the poll to know ahead of time which way it will go.
Left or right they are all crap. When such a time comes and the bullets fly and the blood spills, you will know by the outcome what the truth is. One side will prevail the other will fail. All will be losers but one will still be the winner.

That is a real poll that cannot be fixed.

The only "Numbers" The left knows is the ones with $$$$ in front of them. They think they can buy everyone else's freedoms to do what they will with them.

There is no middle of the road any longer that is an illusion that the left wants you to believe because it weakens the people that oppose them.

Ask them, let them tell you about the death squads the gulags, the torture squads the food shortages, the loss of all income sources except to make money for the state, ie; slavery. The things they could tell you would educate you in reality.

So when someone tells you that a Poll says that is the way it should be the source of that poll dictates the outcome.

Polls are bunko BS and not one of them is every worth paying heed to except as an addition to the Sunday comics. Even they have more credibility than any poll that has every been done.

Yeah I know, Long winded and to most about as credible as most polls but the fact we have lost more gun rights this year than we have in the last 30 or so speaks for itself.

It is the lack of activism by the pro gun, pro 2nd Amendment people, and that never meets what the loudmouth left does. The reason they win is because they are louder and more obnoxious and radical than nice conservatives that love their country.
