I am all for background checks, I think every politician that runs for office should have a psychological evaluation as well as tested for cognitive abilities. Seems none in office right now have either. Having that done would probably effect the outcome of such polls. :)

I still fail to see how a poll of 2,002 people speaks for 250,000,000+ people. Who were the people they asked? Where did they live? Among the Republican respondents were they Rinos? Or were they Tea Party conservatives?

Polls used to drive garbage legislation should all be tossed. Anyone with any skill can make any poll results fit their message. It's all a bunch of BS.

80% of Democrats and 70% of Republicans support background checks.

In other news, 90-95% of Americans are ignorant, bordering on stupid, about guns and gun control.

Can we toss out the 51% that voted for obama?

And as far as testing, I'm not so sure cognitive ability should garner the most attention.
I wanna know if they're liars of the pathological variety.
Like so many that we have currently.

I think you may overestimate the intelligence of the average person. Like Carlin said think how stupid the average person is and remember half of them are dumber than that.

I think those numbers are a little inflated though. I think Wa is a pretty good example of what we could expect nationwide. Wa has a liberal stranglehold on the biggest urban area with more rural areas made up of fierce Conservatives and Libertarians, and 59% approved 594. I would imagine that put to a nationwide vote, the numbers would be similar.

That being said, I fail to see how the stupidity of the American (or Washingtonian) voter nullifies my right to non infringement and private property rights, so I couldn't give a bubblegum less what they think.

You can cook a poll to get any result you want. That explains the MSM's almost sexual fascination with them.

A poll of 2,002 people can, in fact, be representative of 250,000,000 people. The statistical methods are valid and can be proven mathematically. However (and this is a big however), these statistical methods can and often are manipulated to skew the results to favor a certain political view.

And that's a big part of the problem. Simply changing how a question is asked can really alter the results. If you ask a question such as "Do you favor background checks so more children won't be murdered?", how are people to respond? If you say no, it appears you favor child killing. If you say yes to avoid looking like a child killer, you have now been added to the list of folks who support background checks.

Who they talk to, where they live, heck, even recent events in their local area can and will alter results.

I agree that, mathematically, you can use a small group to represent a large one, but I don't trust the folks that do this to actually provide a completely true and factual set of statistics.

The wife has 3 degrees and a masters in math. Her take is you can skew the numbers to support any agenda you so choose, so you have in my mind anyway, a valid point.

Doing polls in places like Portland, Seattle or similar places will have a 180 degree difference in outcome than if it were done in Places like Chiloquin Oregon ir any city in rural areas. Putting questions to liberal retards pretty much assures a liberal retard outcome.

I absolutely hate that they are using political party affiliation, as though either party represents the ideals of left or rightism. Why not use Socialists and Libertarians? Your results would have been MUCH different.

I'm also highly suspicious of the use of "Republicans" here anyway - so were they selected because of political party affiliation? Now we need to know WHAT the selection criteria was - 'cause you could sure as hell find 1001 anti-gun Republicans. Easily.

I don't analyze polls, I just report the results.

    ;)

If I find out more to suggest the fix was in, you'll hear about it.

All you have to do look at who did and sponsored the poll to know ahead of time which way it will go.
Left or right they are all crap. When such a time comes and the bullets fly and the blood spills, you will know by the outcome what the truth is. One side will prevail the other will fail. All will be losers but one will still be the winner.

That is a real poll that cannot be fixed.

Polls are also tricky in that they tell you WHAT people might want (and they are usually close...), but it doesn't tell you HOW MUCH people want something. That is the key. If people want something but aren't inclined to get up and do anything about it, it is tantamount to not caring at all.

Other polls show that 4-9% of Americans consider gun crime/gun safety (gun control) a top 10 issue. Less than 10% and you know well that half are AGAINST gun control. The actual population that moves this issue is much smaller than the numbers imply.

I would love to see the Super Bowl live, but I am not motivated to pay the airfare, hotel and tickets.

The only "Numbers" The left knows is the ones with $$$$ in front of them. They think they can buy everyone else's freedoms to do what they will with them.

There is no middle of the road any longer that is an illusion that the left wants you to believe because it weakens the people that oppose them.

To beat them it must be hard core anchored in concrete will, to say NO, you will not screw with my rights anymore.

That is rhetoric that makes them exude the foul stench of what they are made from.

Compromise, PC and giving in in incremental stages is what has cost us all the 2nd Amendment freedoms that have been take from us.

The only freedoms they want is the ones that affect them, and no one else should have them unless they can control every aspect of them.

They cannot take opposition even in the smallest ways, and the 2nd is the single most powerful thing we all have to keep our freedom.

We CANNOT compromise any more of it away. In fact it is time we took a tougher stand against those that try to disarm us. Inch by inch weakening and we will never recover.

It HAS TO BE STOPPED NOW or forever lost. Sorry but I have a serious allergy to cyanide fed ovens and showers.

Patrick Henery's words still ring true today even more than they did in his time.

Either you all join forces for absolute freedom and maintenance of our Constitution and give up the games, the TV, the texting/sexting and anything that is unproductive to saving our country, we WILL lose this country and waiting for the next guy to do it for you will no longer work.
I an speaking to the wind as I have for a half century, but still I have to say it.

I have lost faith in most of the people that think they are Americans, and to be one it takes commitment to keeping our freedom against those that want to take it from us.

There are too many that are pretenders and they , in most cases, really do not know what kind of fire they are playing with. Anyone that thinks Socialism, Marxism and Communism will give them a free ride, really should just put a gun to their head and pull the trigger. They will have abetter outcome than what they will end up with their concept that any of those ideologies are going to bring them a utopia.

If any of them had even an active brain cell they need to talk to those that escaped from those ideologies to what was once a free nation, America, and wht they feel about those trying to create a Socialist/Marxist/Communist way of life in this country.
Ask them, let them tell you about the death squads the gulags, the torture squads the food shortages, the loss of all income sources except to make money for the state, ie; slavery. The things they could tell you would educate you in reality.

So when someone tells you that a Poll says that is the way it should be the source of that poll dictates the outcome.
Be it Left or be it Right.
Polls are bunko BS and not one of them is every worth paying heed to except as an addition to the Sunday comics. Even they have more credibility than any poll that has every been done.

Yeah I know, Long winded and to most about as credible as most polls but the fact we have lost more gun rights this year than we have in the last 30 or so speaks for itself.

It is the lack of activism by the pro gun, pro 2nd Amendment people, and that never meets what the loudmouth left does. The reason they win is because they are louder and more obnoxious and radical than nice conservatives that love their country.
Until you get as serious bout this as those roll ye owns, you will lose and lose and lose. Until there is little else to lose.
    .:s0146::s0137:

It is truly time to become a one issue voter again. Regardless of how hard that may seem to you. To not do so will cost you what freedom you have left.

The rest of the issues are recoverable, but the loss of the 2nd Amendment cannot be recovered, because they will use it against you and will have no opposition if you do not have the arms to stop them.

    .
Sometimes it is just too damned hard to behave.............................................
