A petition to stop the modification of our second amendment rights.
The petition ask for a law to be put in place that will stop constant requests by our government to
modify the constitutional 2nd amendment:s0155: right !

Not to rain on your parade, but this stuff is frankly a waste of time. The deal with petitions is that if you get over 25,000 from a single state to sign a petition, the President will personally respond.

In this case, you will get the usual canned response: "I fully support American's right to own guns." and that will be that.

If you want to actually DO something that will make a difference, invite your lcal legislators out to the range. Don't be a dick, don't be a zealot. Show them how to safely handle a firearm and let them have fun. show what can and can NOT be done with a gun.

This and letters, (handwritten) will do 1000 times more good than silly internet "petitions."

Have to agree. This is a worthless time waster. Our only real peaceful hope now is that the SC will have a conscience and continue to strike down unconstitutional gun bans, and to fight as hard as we can, legislatively

Its funny that most of the top petitions are asking to allow states to leave the US and form their own countries. Im sure those will go well. :)

This is a good one too. hell yeah we need a Deathstar

In all seriousness, I think we would do better doing was misterbill suggests. Through respectful calm discussions, I was able to get my work to change their policy of firing anyone who brings a firearm to work to allowing me to carry and keep a gun safe at my desk. I talked a few others into working toward having a CHL and helped another choose a handgun for personal safety (all of them women, by the way). One of them just showed me a pic of her new 1911 she is getting for christmas a few days ago (I was immensely jealous too). Only a tiny contribution but I feel its a victory

Well of course it is a waste of time, this will not change the administrations point of view anymore then this forum all the ranting and all the raving on here will do nothing. In fact all the more recent end of the world post, and the shootings posts and all the responses means nothing in the scheme of things. People just like you none-the-same post on here knowing your posts will change nothing.

Lets be honest here, people post on here because it is an outlet for sometime very frustrating topics to be shared with like minds.
But on the other hand somewhere some how one Liberal gun-banner and some person wanting a socialist government changed things in the white house in what feels like over night !

My instructor told me long ago, You do nothing and you change nothing, those that do so change the world !

Not to mention the obvious: the authority to regulate (or repeal) any amendment is in the constitution.

As a result, only one right is completely unregulated and unlimited.

Short of amending the constitution, regulation of the second amendment is here to stay. Achieving such an amendment would mean civil war.

I'd lead.

Seems like the season is early this year...

And this petition does exactly nothing. It's actually WORSE than nothing, because it presents the illusion of doing SOMETHING.

I posted a sample letter to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee along with all of their mailing addresses a couple of days ago. If you want to accomplish something, write a letter. Make a phone call. Invite your local state legislator to the range. Heck, invite someone who's never shot a gun before to the range.

These are all useful activities that actually help out the cause.

Putting up a petition on Whitehouse.gov like the one you posted is mental masturbation. It may feel good, but it produces no results.

Ok first of all I did not put up the petition so save you insults for some one else buddy boy, I saw it when someone else on here pointed out one on that site. Perhaps you should try to think first before you go on the attack but that requires processing before speaking. So you wrote a letter huh wow I am impressed, It will do nothing as well. Your actions are about the same as a petition duh !

I hear ya, and I wish other people understood the grave consequences if ever that were to occur.

Really, a petition?

We should sing a song too. It should be jaunty, but not too jaunty, and should have a nice solid cadence, but not too repetitive because people might think it's too militaristically killy.
