Mods- sorry if this is in the wrong place, please feel free to move or delete if there are similar threads going . . .

Ever since Measure 114 started in the works and passed, every month I have been putting aside funds and buying up what I can.

With a potential decision looming this month on Measure 114, an upcoming critical election, and then school shooting today, I am glad I have been preparing as much as I can. I see a rough ride ahead of us, and the potential for a huge run on guns/mags/ammo again. I hope I am wrong.

I have several more guns that I was hoping to acquire before this month, but an unforeseen well water main burst set me back. So have been buying 'standard capacity' mags for guns I dont yet own, with the hope/plan that down the road I can hopefully still buy those last few guns and not be held back buying 10 rd mags. . .

How prepared are you for what may be coming?

Thank goodness for me, the wife has the keys to my money supply. These would be great excuses to add a couple of dozen more firearms to the larder. Instead I am going to break my back and trade/purchase for another 85lbs of cast bullets. If my poor diet doesn't kill me, maybe lead poisoning will.

If you haven't maxed out all your credit cards and taken 16 mortgages on your house as well as dollar store loans on your vehicles so you can buy every AR lower, parts kit, uppers, reloading gear in addition to an untold amount of cheap handguns and hunting rifles you won't hunt with, you just ain't livin it up @arakboss style!

You are thinking correctly. Strangely, it seems like mass shootings are more frequent before an election. Hmmm... If, as the election nears, it appears that Comrade Kamela the laughing hyena is likely to win, then yes a huge run on guns & ammo will be likely, just like the runup to the 2016 and 2020 elections. If Trump wins and gets us out of Biden's wars, then guns and ammo will be cheap again, and that will be awesome.

A big influence for me was the 1994-2004 ban. Not being able to get anything like decent capacity mags, anything remotely like an AR etc. left a lasting impression. I hated that time in regards to firearms. I imagine many of our friends in arms in WA are feeling that right now. For me I would much rather err on the side of having more than planned than not being able to get it in the future. That reminds me, I need to order another bubblegumpile of G3 .308 mags.

During the '94 AWB pistol mags were $50+ if you needed something that held more than 10rds. Butler Creek 25rd Hot Lips 10/22 mags were $60 each and the steel lips versions were even more. Rifle mags didn't really go up too much compared to pistol mags.

Depending on your age you should have enough that you really don't GAF !

In light of 114 uncertainty, and since I cant afford to outright buy all my bucket list guns at once. I picked up a few frame only lowers to finish building later. The trade off is you wont really have a warranty if the build doesnt go smooth but generally AR lowers are plug and play. Handgun frames are a little more finicky but generally work if you stick to OEM Glock parts.

riflesupply.com sells unfinished serialized Glock lowers and will ship to your FFL.

Yes and no I did dabble in the P80 realm and did not do the ghost for the record while fitment were not top notch they did work and did feel better than a actual Glonk !I have to add at $60 ea have no complaints on a complete G gen 3 lower !

Prepared wise I think I'm good. Occasionally add a gun just for interest like a designated bump fire 9mm and a stainless gun just to play with different finishes. What's odd is the guns that I never would have have bought if m114 never came about (may have bought them someday but there was no urgency) are the most fun to shoot and a joy to own. I'm glad now I didn't wait. I'm sure some of those would have stayed on the "wish list" probably forever.

A whoooole lotta "maybe" guns turned into "yes" guns for me. But the amount of money I'm willing to spend is all but exhausted. Unless something I just gotta have comes by, I'm not sure I'm in a buying mood any longer

I've got plenty of guns and lots of ammo plus age and my health is a thing. That being said there is always the just one more. I just don't know what it is yet. Also there are projects to work on re-shaping pistol grips a Boyd's stock for my 25-06 and other as yet not thought about projects. Matches to shoot, heck I might even go fishing or berry and mushroom picking.

I should mention, besides the unexpected expense last month of having to repair a water main break, I also wasnt expecting the sudden change in suppressor wait times! I had my "buy next" gun list pretty well sorted out, and then suddenly 2 day wait suppressors were on the menu, so I blew A LOT of my gun money on suppressors. THEN after that I blew even more changing out a bunch of my guns for ones that had threaded barrels, as suddenly having suppressors, you want to suppress all the things!

So I was just recovering from buying NINE suppressors, when the water line blew. I have been focusing on buying 'standard' cap mags first, so have mags for multiple guns that I do not own. And I subscribe to the rule of buying at least 10 mags for each type of gun I own, so depending upon the gun, that can get expensive. Yes I too remember the days of $50 Pmags, where every single site was completely sold out.

Also as mentioned above, bought multiple AR lowers, with the plan to later build them out, with the hope that what happened in WA wont happen here. . .

Going old school, that's awesome.

It's what we'll be shooting when the lights, internet and cell service are gone…
In a serious tone, though, I have added more revolvers in the last two years than I purchased in the rest of my life combined. I got the bug.

Same. It is unrelated to the legislation mentioned in OP, but I got really interested in wheelguns in recent years.

When Oregon looked like they were going to go after standard capacity autos, I began building out my revolver collection a bit more.

What I've found is I genuinely enjoy shooting revolvers, much more than autos…. Another reason why a 642 has become a constant companion…
