percussion cap versus primer prices

    I just bought some of both from Cabelas and the prices for caps were exactly twice as much as for the same amount of primers, why? they're basically the same thing.

    Caps are simpler.. no anvil. Probably more expensive (they always have been.. in my memory) due to less demand? I don't know.

    I set my percussion cap nipples aside and went to the Mag Spark 209 Primer Adapter
    Haven't seen any percussion caps for a while and am getting back to shooting my hawkin.
    My local Bimart does have 209 primers and 777 (simulated) black powder.
