I was doing my nightly internet cruising and ran across this post from the NRA-ILA site about two bills proposed in congress:
There are two pro-gun bills pending in Congress that require your action. Please review these legislative initiatives and be sure to contact your U.S. Representative at (202) 225-3121 and urge your representative to cosponsor and support these important pieces of legislation. On November 21, 2013, Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation Co-Chairs, U.S. Representatives Bob Latta (R-Ohio) and Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), introduced H.R. 3590, The SHARE Act of 2013. This NRA-backed legislation includes several important updates and changes that would positively impact American sportsmen. If enacted, this legislation would protect traditional lead based ammunition used by hunters. The legislation would also allow polar bear trophies legally harvested before the importation ban to be imported into the United States. Additionally, many provisions in this legislation would remove burdensome restrictions, such as opening additional land access for hunting and fishing and allowing for firearms to be legally carried on land managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. Similar legislation to H.R. 3590 passed the U.S. House of Representatives in the 112th Congress by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 274-146.
On August 1, 2013, U.S. Reps. Rich Nugent (R-Fla.) and Jim Matheson (D- Utah), introduced H.R. 2959, The National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act. This NRA-backed legislation would allow any person with a valid concealed carry permit to carry a concealed firearm in any other state that issues concealed firearm permits or does not prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms. A state's laws governing where concealed firearms may be carried would still apply to all within its borders. Similar legislation to H.R. 2959 passed the U.S. House of Representatives in the 112th Congress by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 272-154.
