How do you get a 4.2 GPA?

Did he have a A++ thrown in there somewhere or is this the new liberal GPA scale where everyone gets at least a 3.0?

Edit.......found the answer. I am mostly correct. Certain advanced classes or college prep courses can earn the standard 4.0 for a "A" grade plus a extra point for taking the class to total a 5.0. A student could have a "B" or even a "C" grade in their history and still graduate with a 4.0 or greater average of they have enough advanced classes under their belt.

Exactly. which is why Kashuv's 3.9111 places him at the top of his class at the same school. Hogg was a recent transfer from California which uses a grading system allowing over 4.0 so he brought that with him.

What's amusing about the Hogg story is that they always imply he is being treated unfairly for his activism (like colleges are somehow bastions of conservative NRA gunsupporters) when the fact is that the decisions by the colleges were made before he came to prominence. Guaranteed that if/when he reapplies he will be accepted by all of them regardless od his merit as a scholar. This is one more reason for Hogg to delay the last few months of school (this story actually took place this spring and is associated with Hogg's boycott of Laura Ingram) and a diploma. By doing so he can reapply as a student. He can also spend time fishing for more self serving attention.

It will be fun if he graduates Stoneman next year and Kashuv is the Valedictorian.

I got this e-mailed to me from a friend in HI. It attempts to explain something that some may feel uncomfortable with.

There's this internet site, Quora, where people can post questions and maybe get an answer. Many of the questions are less lucid than "Why is there air?" Some answers are about as useful. But today I saw a jewel that I pass along to you. Below is a total quote:

The truth is uncomfortable, but it's under everybody's nose, nonetheless.

Because education, both at home and school, is nothing qualitatively near that of 50 years ago.

Because parents have given away their authority over children in favor of becoming their "best friends", when not ignoring them completely.

Because people have been stripped off of their natural antibodies against life adversities, replaced by the idiotic micromanaging concept of no adversity, no damage. I'll explain this better. Fell off a cliff? Why the heck there's a cliff there? Well, cliffs are there and so are offenses, failures, sadness and anything else called…adversity. These days people rely on other people's good behavior towards them, while 50 years ago people used to rely on developing their own resilience in dealing with other people's bad behavior towards them. With the ludicrous idea that life shouldn't present any adversities, more and more people resent anybody else but themselves, when those adversities punctually show up; and a desire for indiscriminate vengeance against anyone who represent their social circle surfaces.

This takes us directly to the next reason: the replacement of personal responsibility with tertiary responsibility and the consequent death of personal accountability. It's always somebody else's fault. You get fat because there is too much sugar in pops: let's make them very expensive. You are broke because pops are too expensive: let's ban them. You keep being fat because in order to fight the cravings for the now off-the-market pop you have moved to binge eating chocolate: rinse and repeat.

Rights, rights, rights and then even more rights. An addiction which has diluted the concept of duties almost to extinction. Rights which cannot exist are claimed, presumed rights which harm the freedom and rights of others. An individual right can not harm the rights of others, let alone those of the community. People who manifest to claim more rights, never mention their duties. Duties without which collectivity and society could not exist, and hence there could not be any right either.

To recap, take a man who has been raised without discipline, who has been ignored by family, who faces an adversity which to his eyes shouldn't have even existed, who has been told that whatever happens to him it's never his fault, who has been told that he has no duties, only rights, and give him any excuse to be upset: congratulations! You have just created and triggered a mass murderer. With or without a semi-automatic rifle, because the real lethal weapon here is victimization. Sold by the pound in any media and social circle near you.

I don't KNOW for sure if it's really real and written by Sabrina Deep (Studied, Anthropology Major) but there it is.
