So I have been off here for a while after some family stuff that has kept me busy. However I have been curious about some of your reactions to the recent ISIS attacks.
It has cause me to make sure I have extra mags, Check my guns daily to be sure a round is chambered when I walk out...Pretty much I am just a lot more prepared these days for a "bad situation" whatever that may be.

Am I paranoid or just prepared? My in laws believe I am the former. Is something happening around us realistic in your opinion? Should we be more prepared as the few that will be able to shoot back? Should we just carry on like everything is normal and life is good with all our great presidential options right now???

I will continue to be aware and prepared. You?

    Be aware - sure.

    Be prepared - sure.

    But what for?

A terrorist attack is not that likely.

It's like the mass shootings - they make a lot of press, but they are rare.

Everyday criminal violence, a lot more common.

Storms, earthquakes, floods, forest fires, even volcano eruptions - more likely here in the PNW in my opinion.

Why would you be paranoid? You're the one with the gun.

Not sure I am paranoid...If so I have been my whole life. Just feeling a bit more on watch and not "forgetting" to check my mags, clean my guns, and all the stuff I really should always do. Just seem to be damn sure everything is ready now.

I still carry the same old. Probably should carry a little "heavier" if you know what I mean.

Paranoia means you live in fear.

Prepared means you are prepared for likely situations that you may encounter.

    40cal, be my neighbor!
Review cc rules IE defense of self or another.
Practice situational awareness while walking, driving, at the market, etc, plan to escape.
Downtime can be at home or?? there must be downtime, or you will go more nuts
    Practice shooting etc skills
    Become the shadow...
If your in-laws, spouse give you grief, minimize posturing, etc
    As to paranoid,
    Oregon openly accepting Syrian refugees
    Islamists complete attacks in Paris
Brussels Belgium lockdown, imminent terror attack
    Islamists vow attacks in America
Domestic mass casualty events already happened
Like I suggest, become the shadow
    attaboy on being prepared

What the hell is even likely now? Anything
When you lay it out like that it seems I am far from paranoid. I just keep up with current events too much. Glad to know I am not the only one who thinks things are a little crazier than the normal gang violence and such.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there isn't someone out to get you!!!

I do. I have been carrying a .357 rather than my normal .380. Along with a 9mm and extra mags. Always had two but the little ankle gun now has a much bigger bark and bite!
Just feeling like I would likely use the 9 but having the extra "kick" puts my mind at ease.

I really just thought about it as I have recently been driving downtown constantly for work and am getting ready to head out this evening. I caught myself cleaning the shotgun...which is rare. In case the wife needs it.
Also bought some better pepper spray to have on hand. Then I realized I am definitely preparing myself for whatever I can! Much more than I remember doing before. I can accept if I am crazy. Least I am crazy and prepared.

The lambs wool or holster itself? Or the lamb itself? Please...Look who you are asking to behave. Pfft. Riiiight.

Really I need a nicer one though. Let me know how that goes. Mine rubs the crap out of me sometimes. Lambs wool may be a good idea.

I'm continuing to be vigilant, pretty much the usual. I did order a new holster so I could carry a .45 more efficiently and comfortably. Also been carrying a back up .380 on occasion, kind of a test period. Not so bad so far!

Oh Poo, I forgot! .40cal, in order to live a more blissful life with good mental health it's imperative that you don't give a rats rump about the opinions of in-laws! It helps if they are aware of this decision! Just don't be too rude when you inform them thusly! ;) SRG

Ask what might happen in my environment.
    What are the downstream consequences?
    Plan to minimize consequences

Big kerfluffle at Cabelas (advertised 22 boolits, shipment late) Elvis Concert cancelled, etc.
I-5 jammed up forever starting at nyberg rd, down to Medford and up to Vancouver BC
    Riots, etc.
Cheap, plentiful food, some water, a campstove, go home stay there till the coast is clear.

Rice n Beans (Sacks of em in a plastic Home Depot bucket w lid), some spices, chile con carne in a can Some candles, lotsa wine

Hunker down, Wait till the 7th Cav arrives
