I have never purchase a firearm and done any paperwork. I have also never done any paperwork when I sold a firearm. I once bought a pistol at a gun show and gave my license info to a non commercial dealers, he said it was for his own protection, but didn't go anywhere. What are the requirements legally to purchasing and selling a firearm in WA state. Is a bill of sale required, is there state paperwork that needs to be filed?

No ,and spare me the lecture. I spent many years of my young adulthood worrying more about girls and fast motorcycles. Now that I am a father with something to lose, I consider these thing.

I was young once and remember.
A personal sale must have a background check done at Gun store with an FFL.

Damn what allot of red tape, when crooks can still buy guns, seems like a waste. The state must have wanted the money.

Not the state, the anti's. They just want to inconvience legal gun owners as much as possible and create a de facto registry.

careful what you say out loud, there are legislators who will start saying "that's a loophole!!! OMG common sense!! " and create emergency legislation to get it plugged (instead of actually going after important state issues).

    :D

There are plenty of FFLs that run things out of their garage and keep things on paper only, plenty of 'em. Yea, its still red tape but at least you can bubblegum and shoot the bubblegum along with the transferee and FFL holder.
