Our common semi auto AR or whatever is an assault rifle (AR). And in the eyes of the government is an assault weapon. An assault weapon is any weapon that has military characteristics. i.e. detachable magazine, bayonet lug, collapsible stock, etc. So yes almost every store carries them and makes a lot of money off of them.
Sorry bud AR does not stand for assault rifle. Know what an ar-1 is? They are both built by ArmaLite and both are Rifles.

I am more concerned with what Oregon will try to do than I am with the Feds.

This. It's easy to worry about what's happening at the federal level and take your eye off the ball at the state level. Don't know about Oregon, but currently (I think) Washington has enough Republicans and conservative Democrats to stop a ban. However, that group is a shaky number and if a few flip on us, we could be looking at California/NY/etc. style regulations here. State Senator Ed Murray and Representative Jaime Pederson are both going to introduce AWB legislation this session. Fortunately, Murray will be spending his time running for Mayor of Seattle, but this legislation is going to be floating around out there. Speaker Chopp today indicated that he supported an AWB. He's been somewhat agnostic about gun control in the past as part of his strategy to keep conservative Democrats in the tent. His willingness to support an AWB is not a good sign.
