Headed back to help the MT ranchers out with the prairie dog problem next week. For those of you interested in varmint rigs...thought I would post this. The dogs will get a taste of these 4 cartridges...2 of the rifles are virgins. The CZ 527 chambered in 17 Hornet and the Rem XR 100 in 20 Vartarg. The switch barrel Savage target rifle with 22BR and 6BR barrels is a veteran of many P dog towns. All are threaded and will only shoot suppressed.
CZ 527 Varmint with barrel cut back to 20" ...with Weaver Grand Slam 5-20 x 50 EBX reticle. 20gr V max @ 3650 fps.
Remington XR-100 rebarreled 22" threaded in 20 Vartarg...with Sightron s-tac 4-20 x 50 with MOA-2 reticle. 26gr Barnes Grenades @ 3900fps & 32gr Vmax @ 3800fps.
Savage Model 12 dual port target action with two barrels. With Sightron SIII 8-32 x 50 with fine crosshair dot reticle. Will switch barrel in field with trailer receiver mounted barrel vice.
22BR 26" 1:12 barrel loads are 40gr Vmax at 3900 fps and 60gr Vmax @ 3450fps
6BR 28" 1:8 barrel load is 87gr Vmax at 3350 fps.
I will probably do a post-mortem post to this when I return.
