organized demonstrations

ladies and gentelmen we need to get an e-mail campaign going to the nra-ila going to suggest that organized demonstrations need to be formed to get the politicans attention. Everyone who does it seems to get a lot of media attention and press coverage and it seems that we are the only group that does not do it in support of their cause. a couple of thousand armed citizens holding a peaceful demonstration should get every ones attention. Especially if the nra organized it to happen in a lot of citys nation wide on the same day.
I would love nothing more than to stand in downtown Portland with my ak in a demonstration. It could get bad real fast if we had just one bad egg in the group
It's not even remotely a good idea to have an armed demonstration.
Both for PR, and for the police.

Besides, demonstrations tend to go bad when the protesters try to argue with the folks on the street at that moment, when the effectiveness of the Protest lies in it's broadcast over the media across the state, and even the nation.

It shouldn't be too quiet, like a workers strike, but can't be too rowdy, like the leftist marches in Portland that cut off traffic and damage cars and personal property trying to pass, or even businesses.
The Black Panthers used armed demonstrations to great effect back in the 1960's! Suddenly the police were very polite, and stopped beating and harrassing people just for fun. At that time it was legal to carry a loaded rifle or shotgun in public.

Even before the laws were changed, the Panthers stopped armed demonstrations. They had made their points, but had alarmed the wider population. When it made bad press, they stopped......................elsullo
