Oregon's high court to consider proposed gun-control measure
...because other humans believe they have a higher moral authority over the lives and personal property of other humans. And the sheep bleat out...lead us...four legs good; two legs baaaaad baaaaaaadddd
Since when was the church allowed to interfere with the state!
Since it can obviously influence "common folk" to do their bidding indirectly saving themselves the hassle.
Remember, we always need money for them programs!
Churches have the same rights as anyone else to “interfere” with the state. The State has no right to establish or interfere with a church (with a few exceptions). Like the constitution tells what the state can not do to the individual, not what the individual can do to the state. Many of these issues are one way streets. The first amendment says anyone can use a bully pulpit to influence people and in turn policies....,,,no matter how crazy the balance of us think they are.
Since the inception of the nation and before; within the Constitution, there is no separation of church and state. The First Amendment only restricts the government from establishing a state religion and from interfering in individual worship. Nothing prevents churches from being active in politics.
Now, tax exempt status of religious organizations is an entirely different matter...
You know that the first state supreme court upheld assault weapon bans in liberal east coast states that this is going to fly right through siding the exact wordage from the other court rulings.
Slice it anddiceit, I'm here to tell you it's going to be the same thing because liberals all stick together.
You’re not wrong; I don’t place any faith in the Oregon Supreme Court but the battle must be joined wherever reasonably possible.
The State Supreme Court won’t be looking at he constitutionality of IP43, only the validity of the certified ballot title.
That Pastor is talking as if this review is some kind of attempt by gun owners to block the initiative process. The deception these people are engaging in has no end to it. All the review is asking is that an accurate title and description of what the initiative does be written.
Since when is it wrong to be in favor of honesty, and telling the truth?
If this pastor wants to spread lies and deception, then one can only wonder if he really is a man of God, or is a follower of Satan.
"In the press conference in Knutson's church, Knutson joined with a rabbi and a Muslim imam to announce that from Friday, June 29 through Sunday, July 1, a signature-gathering campaign will be launched at churches, synagogues and mosques around the state — if the Supreme Court has finished assessing the request for review."
"The campaigners are counting on the participation of youth, who protested across the nation to demand stricter gun laws, to help gather signatures, and on places of worship."
More like counting in the ignorance and gullibility of youth to help push left-wing agenda.
This will most likely be another case that will have to be taken to the Federal Supreme Court to be struck down.
No faith in the court either--but I DO have faith that the wheels of justice will move at their usual pace. Which probably means this thing is effectively dead this cycle. Highly unlikely they will even get it on the calendar before July 6.
It WILL be back. Probably on the 2020 calendar. That's if they don't try to cram it through the next legislative session, probably with an "Emergency Clause" attached. All the more reason we NEED to swing at least one third
of the Governor/Senate/House over to the right. Even a little bit. Which means STOP INFIGHTING, get out and VOTE
in November, hold your nose if necessary and vote Katie Brown OUT of the Governors office.
We need to start telling the legislature, in a very loud united voice, with a bit of a growl, that this schmit won’t be tolerated and that we will send them to political purgatory the next election cycle.
This will move faster than light thru the Oregon Supreme Court and on to the voters...
Brown shirts, the whole lot of ‘em...
Feeling a lot like Germany circa 1939...
Maybe. The calendar looks a bit full for June--- Untitled Document
Many of us have been doing that very thing but get told here we should be tolerant.
That bus has already left the plaza and we should have already prepped the torches & sharpened the pitchforks!!!
About time for the Browncoats.
Looks like they cleared their calendar!!!
