Churches have the same rights as anyone else to "interfere" with the state. The State has no right to establish or interfere with a church (with a few exceptions). Like the constitution tells what the state can not do to the individual, not what the individual can do to the state. Many of these issues are one way streets. The first amendment says anyone can use a bully pulpit to influence people and in turn policies....,,,no matter how crazy the balance of us think they are.

Since the inception of the nation and before; within the Constitution, there is no separation of church and state. The First Amendment only restricts the government from establishing a state religion and from interfering in individual worship. Nothing prevents churches from being active in politics.

Now, tax exempt status of religious organizations is an entirely different matter...

You're not wrong; I don't place any faith in the Oregon Supreme Court but the battle must be joined wherever reasonably possible.

That Pastor is talking as if this review is some kind of attempt by gun owners to block the initiative process. The deception these people are engaging in has no end to it. All the review is asking is that an accurate title and description of what the initiative does be written.

Since when is it wrong to be in favor of honesty, and telling the truth?

If this pastor wants to spread lies and deception, then one can only wonder if he really is a man of God, or is a follower of Satan.

You're not wrong; I don't place any faith in the Oregon Supreme Court but the battle must be joined wherever reasonably possible.

No faith in the court either--but I DO have faith that the wheels of justice will move at their usual pace. Which probably means this thing is effectively dead this cycle. Highly unlikely they will even get it on the calendar before July 6.

It WILL be back. Probably on the 2020 calendar. That's if they don't try to cram it through the next legislative session, probably with an "Emergency Clause" attached. All the more reason we NEED to swing at least one third
of the Governor/Senate/House over to the right. Even a little bit. Which means STOP INFIGHTING, get out and VOTE
in November, hold your nose if necessary and vote Katie Brown OUT of the Governors office.
