Seems Oregon can't provide any consequences for existing criminals, so the 'logic' here is to make new laws that turn citizens into criminals. Idiots.

I agree with you 100% but is this any dumber than calling a shoelace a 'machine gun', or a pot scrubber a 'silencer'?

Makes total sense doesn't it? Decriminalize meth and other drugs, yet criminalize those of us who have been through more background checks than the representatives who passed this law.

We literally had a meth-head try to start our building on fire, threaten one of our customers with fire, and run across the busiest street in town to do the same at a business across the street. This was after he had already been arrested and released four times that day and three times the day before. After all was said and done, the most that the police could do was drive him across town to release him and make him someone else's problem. Welcome to the socialist utopia of Oregon...

I'm hoping (perhaps strongly wishing) that this is enough fluff out into the future
to satisfy the anti's. Hopefully they'll think, at least for awhile, "there, we showed
them"! And under observation this bill is not that much in and by itself, however
it's a stupid piece of legislation and the fact that it passed is just another small
chip in the wall, weakening it just a tad bit more. Frustration happens when you
know something is wrong and there's nothing you can do.

Unfortunately, they will never be appeased. There is already a stack of even more draconian anti 2A laws waiting in the wings.

If concealed carry holders are prohibited from the state house and airports, THEN LEO should also be prohibited.

NO F'ing exceptions.

True, but unfortunately it will never happen
Might be getting closer to truth than one thinks. Whole "defund the police" and anti police things in general? May not be long before certain people propose disarming police as a whole, if it hasnt happened (eccept of course for the security details/guards  )

The gov will never disarm its security. They may disarm some of the LE forces, but not those that protect them directly. This goes totally against the whole idea of gun control - which is to increase their power. If they disarm their security forces, then the public could easily attack them.

Right, I'm saying certain people would like nothing more than forcing most police departments into a role similar to mall security .. unarmed, unauthorized to make actual arrests except where State sanctioned, and pretty much demolished to make way for their own type[/b] of "law enforcement" and keeping their armed guards & security.

The above would be pretty difficult for the gov to implement unless there are corresponding major effort to totally disarm as much of the law abiding citizenry as possibly, as effeciently and effectively as possible... some here subscribe that this is the ultimate goal of a certain Party.

I'm pretty sure I heard some Hardesty type call for disarming police already. And one trollish radical leftist here that I put on ignore.

Big city council members have no problem calling for London style Bobbies, even tho this isn't remotely like the UK, yet, because they tend to be rich and can afford private security for themselves, or they will pull an AOC and do a GoFundMe to get the money for security, or they will use taxpayer funds. Then there are also those that wish to abolish city police depts and have either state or federal troopers. Big call for a national police force out there now.

Heads up if this is your school district:
The Eugene 4j School District school board is planning, at their May 18th meeting, to prohibit Concealed Handgun License holding parents from being anywhere on their property.
And a reminder who helped make SB 554 possible:
The Oregon Legislature made this possible in the 2021 Session with SB 554. Second amendment advocates pressured Christine Drazan to walk out on the session, but she failed to do that, and the bill passed without Republican support in either chamber.

To clarify something, because it threw me the first time I saw this: It doesn't prevent someone with a CHL from being on their grounds. It prevents someone with a CHL from bringing a firearm on their grounds. I still oppose it, but the language is misleading a bit.
