Any state that allows you to have Class III weapons AND sells Everclear is pretty much on the beam as far as I'm concerned. :s0155:

Y'alls gas station policy of having to wait for some "pump expert" to come by and stick a hose in the filler tube is utterly out to lunch, but I'd trade waiting on gas fillups for Class III's and Everclear in a minute.

Bravo Oregon! :s0155:

That is all...

I was raised in Eastern Oregon back in the early 70's & loved the state. Back in the late 70's or early 80's, there was a commune of people called the Rajneash (spell check). The Oregonians where fed up with them & there lifestyle & surrounded the compound. They brought in law enforcement from around the nation to get him out of there & disban the compound. This is when Oregon was still tough ( this was even in National Geographic ). I still have friends that I grew up with, who are still in Oregon & can't beleave how the state has become, such a bleeding heart liberal state. I still love Oregon, but alot of the same is also going on in Montana also.

I agree BMCUSNAVY, Oregon has had better days, I moved here in 1969, graduated HS here and have been ever since. I won't mention where I am from, even though it is more PC now, back then Tom McCall would have sent me back. ;)

Thank you sir for your service for our country.

What I like about Oregon and Portland in particular is what a great blend of political alignments thrive here. This is a place where I've discovered handing out pro gun propaganda at anti-war rallies isn't a provocative thing to do, just a way to make more friends. I suspect it's really the same everywhere, but there's more openness it seems. Everyone has fun projects in PDX, from rivethead socialists like me editing gun magazines to anarcho-transexuals building their own AKs in the garage and its just not a big deal. "Oh, still spot welding the receiver? Well, hurry, lets ride our bikes down to the farmers market later."
god- I love this place.

A liberal state with easy to obtain CCW liscences, a wide proliferation of handguns and a city with the highest strip bars per capita in the states! Yup, I dig this state!

Especially in cities like Portland and Eugene, it seems like nothing suprises people. That's awesome.

Oh yeah, strip clubs are pretty sweet too!

I went to my 50th class reunion last August in Pendleton. It hasn't changed much in town. I didn't get to wander around in the old hunting grounds, so I can't say much about that.

I'm in Central Washington, now, after wandering around most of the Western US and a good bit of Europe in the intervening years.

50th?
Impressive. Show up at a shoot sometime, I'm sure I'd learn many things by speaking with you.

I'm assuming your location of "metro" means Portland. I'm in Moses Lake. But, who knows, I might run across you up on Manastash Ridge, first weekend of June. :D ;)

Pops

Just past Yakima..? Surely I'll be there. Is there a thread about a particular shoot during that time..? If not, create one, because you've got a guest who's willing to bring multiple guests already.

You're right, I'm on the West side.

I might have spoken out of turn. Manastash Ridge is an invitational that started over on THR and TFL. The shoot is sponsored and hosted by PolishRifleman. Let me get ahold of him and see what the sign up sheet looks like and I'll get back to you.

Because of the size of the firing line, we can handle about 20 to 25 shooters. That is why it is invitational.

I'll be baaaaack. :D

Speaking of "pump experts"... would you believe that when I was down in Reedsport this past weekend the local pump expert had us filling our own 5 gallon gas cans??

Apparently, the expertise of the pump expert is only "required" when filling the vehicle. Filling 8 five gallon cans on the pavement is something that us dumb non-experts are apparently perfectly capable of handling!! :s0114:  :s0114:

I just don't understand why or how the Oregon legislature has decided that their good population is not capable of performing something that us Jerry-Lewis types do safely every day.

It's just weird. And look at the other sensible laws such as the aforementioned Everclear/Class III, among others.

Gotta admit I've only spent a very short period of time in Oregon a couple years back. Came down to pick up a Canadian made ATV from a dealer down there and saved $3500 bucks over buying it in Canada. Gives you an idea of how goofy things are up here. Loved the drive down, love your gun laws and my daughter loved Ashland, she went to the Shakespeare fest. Unfortunately a little issue from my youth no longer allows me to enter your good country. Apparently we don't like your DWI types and you don't like out controlled substances types. Yeah I got busted with 2 joints 28 yrs ago when I was 18 and wasn't until recently that I was put on a "Do not enter" list. Only stupid thing i ever did, and got caught for.:D Anyways I need to get a waiver so I can get down there again. My wife and I would both like to do the Oregon coast and me and the son want to try full auto at some point. Wife an I have often said we wish the original boundaries would have stayed cause then all you washington and oregon types would have been canadian:s0114:.... ah but then you wouldn't be such a great and free state.:s0155: I think Oregon would be about the only other place I would want to live outside of BC.

Well the 'pump experts' are not on welfare, and they do keep your hands from smelling like fuel the rest of the trip. I made my living in the early years doing that. It kept my family alive and well for about 10 years. And nobody ever caught fire, or drove off with my hose in their tank.
