Dear Amleth,

Greetings on this beautiful day in Oregon. Thank you for all you have been about in the campaign to date! The volunteers from all over Oregon have been the heart and soul of this public health movement to overcome gun violence. In the months ahead, your skills and energy will be needed as much as ever as we move to the November General Election.

First, let us underscore the significance of what we accomplished together over the past several months. 161,545 signatures gathered, which provided a large margin to easily meet the requirement of 112,020 valid signatures by July 8. With over 1600 volunteers gathering and processing the signature pages, with our youngest in the 6th grade and our oldest in their 90's, it was an inspiring and historic intergenerational effort. The mourning and grief of Buffalo, Uvalde, Highland Park and others translated to incredible action for the common good. Your accomplishment brought hope and joy to many places, and the nation is taking notice.

Now it's all out to take this on to victory. PLEASE NOTE: IP 17 HAS NOW BEEN GIVEN THE TITLE OF MEASURE 114. From here on out, we will be working with a YES ON 114 effort.

A great deal has taken place since the Initiative was approved for the ballot in mid-July We are in the process of seeking a campaign director and building a team around our incredible Field Team that we already have in place. We have some prospects and want to complete this soon. We have two volunteer leaders who are experts in fundraising and who will be training all of us in the coming weeks as well as reaching out to potential funders. Another team is working on drawing from the talents and expertise of of our 1600-plus volunteers. Later this month, an Equity Team will be coming together to ensure just and fair implementation. Our Legislative Team has been working on the Impact Statements for the Voter's Pamphlet with the Secretary of State's office and the State Treasurer's office. A Communication Team is in place, and new endorsements are being gathered as support continues to grow. Lift Every Voice Oregon is also working with the Oregon Alliance for Gun Safety in a very important collaborative effort to get at least 25 strong and clear statements from a cross section of the state for the Voter's Pamphlet, which is a large endeavor with a due date at the end of August. Events are now beginning in different parts of the state to build capacity and energy for the fall campaign.

If you see an area where you would like to engage, please contact the LEVO office ([email protected]) or click the link below to fill out the volunteer interest form. Teams in every community will be the key to victory.

In the coming days we will send out dates of an official kickoff for later this month, with national and local media coverage. Together we are going to run hard and win in November! Thank you again for your partnership in this vital effort for the health and well being of all Oregonians, especially our children and youth.

Peace,

Rev. Dr. W. J . Mark Knutson

They are WAY more organized than the OR 2A community with plenty of funding to boot it appears. :(
well how many members here? if we got are act together we could organize as well. we gotta do more than complain here..
I send emails letters 2 to 3 times a week to these so called politicians working for me. its not much but im poking the bear.. we all got friends relative. spread the word, lets get organized pool money get some info out there,
there has to be people her with connections on every front. ex: advertising, social media, local rallies/meetings. we just sit here being keyboard cowboys we will get nowhere..

IP18 defines 'Assault Rifle" as:

3. A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following:

(A) A folding or telescoping stock;
(B) Any grip of the rifle, including a pistol grip, a thumbhole stock or any other stock, the use of which would allow an individual to grip the rifle in a manner resulting in any finger on the trigger hand, in addition to the trigger finger, being below any portion of the action of the rifle when firing;
(C) A forward pistol grip;
(D) A flash suppressor; or
(E) A grenade launcher or flare launcher;

Therefore, my son's 22 cal. target rifle is a weapon of war. See how scary it looks?

????
Your first sentence says semi auto centerfire. The 10/22 is fine.

What is needed: A social media campaign. A mail media campaign. Some TV commercials. All of this aimed at people who don't already have fixed opinions on gun rights. We can get advice from others, but must do the work ourselves. Need an attorney to advise on setting up an organization. Need a PO Box or office address. It is possible but requires commitment. Time spent talking and typing instead of fishing, shooting or working. Money too.

Need a way to get the public to think outside what the "blame guns" media tells them to think. You need to go around the Oregonian and local TV and get heard. Newspapers outside the blue corridor may let you be heard. You will have to buy ads from others.
Organizing means time, money and effort. Need social media campaign, tv commercials, a lawyer to help set up an organization. Some of the political campaigns may cooperate.

Hey dudes. I have attached screenshots of the homemade flier I have made and been distributing out to all the Oregon gun part companies and local shops to me. Feel free to use this as you will to help get the word out. Thanks!

@cmrcr So from what I gather this is what is going on the ballot in November.

None of this outlines fingerprinting and registering with the state police for your permit and photographs. Nor does it cover the fee for the permit. This is being ramrodded through and is about as unconstitutional as it gets.

BOHIC Oregon firearm owners. This will pass and the only chance to fight it is to challenge in court.

Those liars have sent the local media talking points that cleverly focus on improved "background checks," with little mention of magazine bans or permits. The headline readers driving to work hear this and assume it's no big deal. Just "common sense".

More deception. All the pro-gun groups should be buying up airtime to proclaim the truth about this initiative. Not improved background checks, but magazine bans with no grandfathering and initiating a "poll tax" to execute your Second Amendment rights. The only right that's illegally taxed to exercise.

Didn't some guys board some ship in some harbor and dump some tea for this exact cause…. Taxation without representation…
