Where did the 35,000 number come from?
Just speculating, but possibly an inflated number provided to the "journalist" by LEVO.

If they had enough signatures already, they'd probably say so. If they were close, they'd also probably say so to motivate their members to bring them over the finish line. To avoid demotivating them for the next attempt, and to save face, they inflate the actual 10k signature count. Again, just speculating here.

If gun laws worked, Chicago, Baltimore and Mexico would be the safest places around.
If the police can be relied on to protect you from violence, the Uvalde children would be home tonight, as would the Marjory Stoneman Douglas children. Instead, the police stood around outside while children were being killed.

No word on signature numbers, but I'm just going to leave this here.

Dear Amleth,

In case you didn't see our previous message, we're sending this reminder:

Greetings! As one of our amazing LEVO volunteers, we want to invite you to an important meeting: the LEVO All Volunteers Weekly Zoom Briefing on Tuesday, May 31st, 6:30-7:15. The Zoom connection information is below.
As we enter this Memorial Day Weekend, when we honor those who lost their lives serving this country, we are moving into an all out push to our July 8 finish line to get IP 17 on the ballot for the November 8 General Election and to tee up IP 18 for the beginning of the Legislative Session early in 2023 with a bill that will carry out the goals of IP 18. As they say in the sports world, "We are going to leave it all on the court" in the next 40 days.
After the horrific mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde these past two weeks, people want to turn their grief into action, and LEVO's IP 17 is the only real legislation in the country at this time that can begin to change the narrative from mourning into hope.
The plan is clear, and we need everyone to give all you have in the days ahead to get IP 17 on the ballot. For those who have been doing such incredible work gathering signatures over the past months, help is on the way. Consider this: just in the past week we have added an additional 300 volunteers to the effort from all over Oregon, 40 of whom are teenagers. The energy is simply inspiring and amazing in the LEVO office and surrounding rooms that are being utilized to welcome signature gatherers, send out packets and process completed signature sheets. Please invite others to join our movement to transform our state and nation for the sake of our children and the public health of all.
To achieve our goal, which is monumental and life giving, we are going to begin a Weekly All Volunteers Zoom Briefing, with numbers, updates, dialogue and Questions and Answers. The first will be this Tuesday, May 31st from 6:30 to 7:15 pm. The Zoom connection information is below. For those unable to attend, we will send out an update the next day. We want all of you to have all the information you need to keep doing what you are doing with such grit and determination.
As we are all out gathering signatures this Memorial Day Weekend, when we honor those who gave their lives for the welfare of all, we remember too the 50,000 lives that will be taken by gun violence this year, many who are children and youth, as we pray and act for their families who grieve. Except for the Vietnam War, in which over 58,000 lives were lost, this number is larger than that the number of American deaths in any war our country has been engaged in since World War II. Yes, we must act with every sinew in our body to overcome the violence and loss of precious lives. We are so thankful for each of you and your commitment to this vital effort for the common good and the future of every child.
We hope to see you this Tuesday at 6:30.
Peace,
Rev. Mark Knutson and Joe Paterno on behalf of the entire LEVO Team

Dear Amleth,

WOW! You folks knocked our socks off today! We are thrilled to see all the signature sheets coming in. Thank you! One Circulator at the Mt. Tabor Art Walk (10am to 5:00pm Saturday/Sunday) texted us saying that people are coming up to her to sign the petition -- it's a HOT location!

Can you continue to gather signatures tomorrow? We need at least 5,000 signatures a week as we sprint to our deadline of July 8.

As with every campaign, we still need donations to help get us across the finish line. Does your organization, company, or church have a giving program? If so, please connect them with us so we can talk to them.

Thank you so much and keep collecting for IP 17!

Dear Amleth,

Thank you so much for taking action to reduce gun violence in Oregon! You are part of a groundswell of Oregonians who are turning their fury and anguish into action.
There are two critical needs now: 140,000 signatures before July 8, and money to fund paid Circulators. The more signatures gathered by you, the less LEVO will spend on paid Circulators. 4 weeks to go. Ask everyone to gather signatures. "Many hands ….".
FOCUS ON THE SCHOOLS!
This week and next. Last day for PPS is June 10th. Offer all concerned parents and caretakers the opportunity to sign IP17. Best time is 15mins before and after PM dismissal. Make a bright sign!
SAVE THE DATE: LEVO is asking all Circulators to TRY TO ATTEND at least one event. There'll be thousands of people who will want to sign at EACH event—give them that opportunity.

So with my lousy math skills, I extrapolate that they have gathered approximately 92,020 or so signatures of the required 112,020 with a month to go.

Again, if this gets on the ballot it'll most likely pass requiring you to apply for a permit to purchase firearms, said firearms will be registered with the state police, and standard capacity magazines will be banned. Mag capacity going forward will be limited to 10 rounds a la WA state.

I guess we're interpreting this as them being 20k-25k signatures short of their goal?
Yes. I'm guessing they're padding that number 5,000/week a bit.

It would be absolutely wonderful for this to utterly fail with all of the coordination and effort... yet again. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but the idea of requiring a permit to purchase a firearm is about as an egregious infringement on the 2A as it gets. It is unequivocally unconstitutional AF.

If anyone needs the Zoom meeting info, you know, to inform them politely that their IPs are unconstitutional AF, PM me.
They don't care if not constitutional. Leftists grab power and then let you struggle to get it back. To them, it becomes "the gun nuts' problem" to find, pay and teach a lawyer about guns and then hope the lawyer can get the job done.
