I thought they were only using volunteers. Next time you see one, ask if they are being paid.Last Saturday after shooting a few rounds of Trap at Portland Gun Club I went to a farmer's market in nearby Gresham. I walked past two different ballot measure canvassers asking to sign for "Gun Safety."
Of course I replied: "Absolutely not." I've no way to know for sure but it seemed as though they had heard my tone and tenor before.
I'm semi-retired and still work a day or two per week up at OHSU. I encountered another ballot signature person for "Gun Safety" on campus today.
I can only imagine who's funding all of the ballot signature people,...
From this post:I thought they were only using volunteers. Next time you see one, ask if they are being paid.
I believe they started off with only volunteers. There are two critical needs now: 140,000 signatures before July 8, and money to fund paid Circulators. The more signatures gathered by you, the less LEVO will spend on paid Circulators.
Interesting I thought they had to declare that in the beginning and that they had declared that they were using volunteers only?
Apparently they got permission on 3/29 to use paid circulators:Interesting I thought they had to declare that in the beginning and that they had declared that they were using volunteers only?
That is messed up. That SOS is a POS. It wouldn't surprise me if she runs for governor one day.Apparently they got permission on 3/29 to use paid circulators:
Why on 5/31 did they mentioned the quantity of signatures gathered by paid sig gathers for previous month. It that a monthly reporting requirement? If so I wonder what that number will be for May?Apparently they got permission on 3/29 to use paid circulators:
I read the law on this subject and it appears that as long as the chief petitioner notified the SOS with in 10 days of paying sig collectors it is kosher. That may be why they mentioned the number of signatures the paid petitioners collected in previous month. Those may not have been done on blue sheets. If there was some funny business that allowed them to start using paid petitioners maybe it could be challenged? A coworker said the change was allowed because of covid. I would like to know what the law says about it?
Given the current climate, if it makes it on the ballot it will pass with flying colors guaranteed. If it makes it on the ballot, I hope everybody that opposes the restrictions in IP17 will step up their game to convince voters to defeat it.
I suspect you're right about that.Given the current climate, if it makes it on the ballot it will pass with flying colors guaranteed.
You might have to duplicate the subject matter for a don'tvoteforit website if those paid petitioners are successful.
