Funny that folks are putting down a Gov that is running a state that has the largest budget surplus in the US. Guess they are jealous and have no defense other than resorting to calling them names. Texas is business friendly and doing well and that does not play well to the socialists that live in Portland.

Oregon has some of the highest RE and Income taxes in the US and its still bankrupt on paper. Gov Perry needs to come up and fix Oregon's financial mess. But, but then people might have to go off the state welfare and go to work!!!! Oh My!!

He was on Lars larson today explaining he needs to expand cause sales are so good, so he's going to open up an operation in TX as well. Says he's not leaving but lars asked him why not expand here? His answer was TX was more pro-gun or something like that.

That is good to hear.

My family owns a fair share of the land around Breckenridge, Texas. Bet they are all looking forward to more jobs and friendly people. Texas is the land of friendly people so,, if you ain't friendly stay home. We have hog hunting without limit here too so we don't need any tax hungry hogs here just now.

Well let me tell you the guys that run Colt Competition have been nothing but friendly to me. They are/were local to me and in the same town as the gun club I am a member at. They tested many of their rifles there and for the last 2 years have donated one of them to our annual meeting raffles, benefiting the club and our youth shooting program. I won one this last year and was extremely shocked and happy to be the owner of such a fine rifle. Well, it was a 2012 model and the 2013's hit the website with a hand guard I liked more then what came on the rifle. I didn't want to be unappreciative, but really liked the new hand guard. So I sent them an email explaining that I won the rifle and was very happy with it, but wondered what it would cost to have the new hand guard installed instead. Within about 10 minutes I got an email back from them telling me to bring it in and they'd swap it out for me. I did that day before work, and less then 24 hours later I had it back in my hands with a new hand guard. The rifle shoots great, feels great and I would recommend them to anyone. I am sad to seeing the rifle manufacturing move away and I hope Breckenridge and Colt Competition benefit from the move.

We need gun businesses moving into swing states, not out of them.

Think about it. You win national elections by flipping more swing states to red, not making a single red state even more conservative. You win the mind share by spreading the gun culture and making it easily accessible to more people, not concentrating it in local pockets.

It is the standard liberal attack mode, like a 3rd grader...call someone dumb enough times and some people will believe it. Never mind that Palin as guv of Alaska yanked 20 year old oil leases from a big oil company that wasn't using them, just banking them and no benefit to the citizens of Alaska. Her and her staff stood up and beat big oil.

The libs always have some halfarsed response as to why states with Republican governors are doing well and it starts with a stuttering but, but, but.... Never mind it has everything to do with balancing a state budget and controlling spending... Like the phone commercial "its not complicated."
The fun thing is when some of the libs wake up and see they've been robbed blind of their money and their liberty.

you win by sharing the enthusiasm of gun ownership not by where a businesses is located.

Location is important. There are hundreds of employees who work and live there with their families and friends. Those people are natural gun rights activists - their careers and income directly depend on gun laws. The local governments and economies get used to the tax money, locals get used to gun owners, may visit shows/sales out of curiosity, read related news in local newspapers, etc.

We don't need more activism in Texas, do we? I would rather see a bunch of manufacturers declare their intentions to move to Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Maryland, New Jersey, Massachussetts, New York, Illinois, California, and declare their conditions for local lawmakers to consider. It will not work right away, but repeat the offer loud and often, and amidst the next financial crisis some state may give up.

If that actually worked, the manufacturers would have had no reason to move.

If you think Oregon is anything remotely like a "swing state," you are sadly mistaken. Nationally, we're hosed probably for another 6 years, until the GOP figures out that "more crazy," and "birth control is bad," and we need more wars" isn't a winner. (Everything that they ran on in 2012.) On a statewide basis, we're just as hosed as long as the state-wide elections can just point to the GOP and try to paint the GOP candidate as a carbon-copy of the national party. -Exactly what happened with the WA Governor's race.

It's hard enough getting even a moderate elected with the west-side liberals there. With the GOP still stuck on "we weren't 'conservative' (read CRAZY) enough," we don't have a chance in Hell of getting a pro-constitution anything past a statewide election. Hell, the State GOP in WA just elected a the President of the Board of a "think-tank" dedicated to pushing creationism in the schools as it's state chairperson.

Thanks geniuses, that's going to really help us in Washington. Hope everyone loves Inslee, cause the GOP just guaranteed a second term.
