Well that really sucks, if they are moving the whole business. Bold Idea does production machining, more then just the Colt Competition line from what I understand. I wonder if they are breaking off that line of the business and just relocating it or if they are relocating the entire business? Regardless it's a loss for Canby, and there are some good people there, gun enthusiast who maybe out of a job. I recently won one of their rifles and am very impressed with it.

Is that the one that was raffled at the Canby Rod and Gun Club Annual Meeting? If so congratulations.

Guilty as charged. I am still very thankful I won. I know at least one person who is a member there works for BI an hope he isn't loosing his job.
You sir are a very lucky man, as that is the probably the nicest item raffled off by the Club. All I won was a bottle of booze, which was better than a poke in the eye. Hope you continue to be a member, as you know it is not easy getting a membership there.

He was on Lars larson today explaining he needs to expand cause sales are so good, so he's going to open up an operation in TX as well. Says he's not leaving but lars asked him why not expand here? His answer was TX was more pro-gun or something like that.

Yes very lucky and I have no plans on leaving, after getting in I am here to stay.

Thanks for the update, that is great to hear. I figured this was the case from the way the article was worded, but wasn't sure.

Oregon has some of the highest RE and Income taxes in the US and its still bankrupt on paper.

For all that Oregon has to offer in terms of diversity of landscapes this should be a state of tremendous opportunity and wealth. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out that the reason this isn't so has to do with the state government for the most part and with the feds (in regards to timber) for the balance. I've been a transplant from Wyoming now for 25 years and I am continually amazed at the beauty and diversity of country and opportunities that Oregon has.

Yes ranked 38th out of 50 states for best/worst business opportunity. Yet so much opportunity, for improvement that is. This anti business state is far more interested in ineffective policies that would rather advance an ideology than raise everyone up economically that wants to, vs. angle city, welfare mentality and green business that are dying on the vine as they are smoke and mirrors. I don’t know of any other state that taxes business on gross revenue even when they lose money. That would be like the federal gov taking all your mortgage interest tax deduction away. Wait that could happen.

Just look up north. Washington state does as well.
At least in Washington it is a by-product of the state constitution prohibiting taxes on income, so we have taxes on revenue. If you got revenue and no profit you still have a tax bill.

I'm three shakes from giving Oregon the middle finger and taking my six-figure income tax/spending base to Idaho or Texas as well... and I'm a 46 year old native who loves the diverse ecologies in Oregon.

Similar thoughts to mine. Maybe us natives think alike. I also have an income that takes a number of the creative barista types to match it.

I never thought I would ever begin to think of leaving. We're becoming North Northern California.

I'm thinking about leaving also. I was born here and really can't stand what the invaders have done to this state. I don't like giving them income tax on my pensions when I could live in a no income tax state. My vote doesn't count here and state pensions are clearly bankrupting the state.

They said they were being forced to move because of all of the red tape/regulations/permits/waiting times and cost to simply expand on the property they are on or to move to within the boundaries (where Oregon can really get their pound of flesh). Sounds like it's just ouside the commercial boundary or something to that effect. Along with all of the cost and hassle they basically said it would be easier just to move to a place that welcomes business.

I wouldn't move to any state with Rick Parry as governor, he makes Sarah Palin look brilliant.

The shear ignorance of your comment leads me to invite...NO INSIST that you not move or even visit the Peoples Republic of Texas.

Gov. Perry isn't my favorite person but when YOU make a statement about him without any reason to back it up or substantiate it, it just makes YOU look absolutely foolish. Your wonderful socialist utopian state is currently kicking manufacturing companies out and putting HUNDREDS of it's own constituents out of work. Gov. Perry is inviting those same companies to move to the Peoples Republic Texas and bring their hundreds of jobs with them...they are doing just that. I guess he, Gov. Perry, isn't as bad as Oregon Socialist Leader John Kitzhaber.

Having lived in OR and being very familiar with your states take on business, those dirty capitalists, and how to kill jobs especially those in the lumber and fishing industries of the 80's and now the manufacturing industry - I wish YOU and the rest of the LEFT COAST freaks well in your twisted little socialist experiment BUT for the rest of you gun loving folks...come on down, it's warm year round and we just gained a few hundred more jobs thanks to your freakish socialist government.

Y'all socialist, pinko Texas haters stay home. Y'all True Americans come on down and lets go deer and turkey hunting. Maybe we'll go 'yote hunting with Good o'll Rick one morning. he still uses his 380 No wonder people think he is strange But he is a straight shooter.
