Got a reply back from the Sheriff's Office. I don't know about other counties but in Deschutes you are better off attending the class at the Sheriff's Office. It's only 25 bucks and 3 hours long. The aspect of training they like to hit that is not covered by DD214/mdgunsafety.com is the state law/use of force.

Good information to know if you ask me, can't be too safe these days (legally)

I think they all say Small Arms Training, but, if you were security forces/flight crew/officer then it's a given that you received pistol training.

It's the raw HTTP stream captured with a packet sniffer--Since it is http and not https(which is SSL), it is unencrypted, aka clear text. Someone in the middle could intercept these packets and read the contents of the conversation, which in this case was my fake name, address and ODL.

You can tell the difference by noting whether or not the url in the browser starts with a http:// or a https:// .The 's' means it's secure or using SSL technology to encrypt the message contents.

Yes. Those who's primary TO&E weapon is/was a pistol were required to qualified with it and it is so noted on your DD214 along with your rifle qualification. Not a whole lot of Army jobs specify the pistol as the primary arm but some do. I also held one job that specified both the M-16 and 1911A1 pistol as primary weapons. Normally, one weapon is specified as your primary arm based on your job. At least that was the way it was in the Army of the 1970's.

I had my training Sgt. (National Guard) type up a letter to the Sheriff's Office. The 1911 & M9 were my primary weapons. That was in 1990.

Yes, my DD214 CLEARLY list my individual weapons qualifications...

M60 Machinegun
M16 Rifle
1911A1 & M9 Pistol
Grenades
MP5 Machinegun

other deadly weapons include...

M151A2 1/4-ton trk (aka jeep)
M35 2-1/2 ton trk (aka duece and a half)
M939 5-ton trk (aka 5-ton truck...LOL)
M113 APC (aka track)
15 PAX van
Sedan (aka... any Army owned passenger car... LOL)

Not to worry, you don't have to perform any tasks or demonstrate anything physically. The process for obtaining an OR CHL is quite simple, really. You can take your CHL course online, print out your certificate, and then make an appointment with your Sheriff. You can literally be done within days.
