stop114.com This blows chunks brah!!!

As I read this, there is no funding for anything. As noted in the article, it is hard to miss.
A typical socialist democrat way to govern.
Similar to "global warming" funding as eliminating combustion engines & coal, natural gas.
You know, fuel that has been fairly local & available. No need to ship 1/2 way around the frickin' globe.
They are available now but eliminated by 2030
.
No plans, just more overreach mandates.
Tax & spend Dumbasses. We need to eliminate that course beginning 20 years ago.
Certainly now, before November. I'm doing some by talking to people in my sphere.
Get the "why bother" light & push, push, push for cleansing the voter registration roles,
eliminate "mail-in" ballots, have more "watchers & inspectors. "Pole cops! No cheating.

So, what y'all say?
Measure 114 is wholly unconstitutional. But unfortunately as long as there is mail-in voting in Oregon, there is a chance this bill will pass.

All Oregonians, take notice, Ballot Measure 114 (spawned from the successful initiative petition 17) will be on the ballot this November.

If it passes (YES on 114), Oregon will become one of the most restrictive States in the Union when it comes to our 2nd Amendment rights.

Most notably, expect:

-A ban on the purchasing, selling, and use of “high capacity magazines” (those holding more than 10 rounds). Typical “grandfather” clauses apply.

-Myriad restrictions on where you can use your grandfathered magazines (basically nowhere other than private property or gun clubs/shooting ranges).

-The need to acquire a permit to purchase firearms, with a live-fire demonstration/training being a part of the permitting process.

For further information on what this measure will do, take it straight from the horses mouth (donkey may be more appropriate 😃); Lift Every Voice Oregon, who was responsible for getting this unconstitutional measure on the ballot.

For all members of this forum, it should go without saying that we need to vote NO on this measure! Spread the word to friends, family, coworkers, etc…With word of mouth, I think we can be successful in enlightening the ignorant and potentially winning over fence-sitters.

Likewise, we cannot assume that even the most staunch 2A supporters are aware of this measure; I personally know many die-hard gun owners who were completely unaware of this until I told them about it!

Hopefully we can use this thread to share resources, ideas, and any other pertinent information that will help defeat Measure 114 in November.
Odds are that some of the signatures on the IP 17 petition were falsified.

I sent a question about 114 out to both Christine Drazan and Betsy Johnson (the only two candidates who oppose Measure 114).

I asked them to discuss Measure 114 more in depth and I mentioned the concerns we've all talked about here. mostly in hopes they'll raise further awareness and circulation with their social media teams and ads.

Currently Drazan is campaigning around Oregon. Betsy just submitted some 48k signatures to qualify for the November ballot which should be approved soon.

This was the first debate 2 weeks ago.
Goto 57:25 this is where they talk about gun safety in Oregon.

Update: Both Drazan and Johnson have replied.
Drazans was more of a automated response asking for contributions.
Johnson's said they've taken note and will respond as soon as possible.

Flood them!

While I agree that we need yo keep up the pressure on elected officials and candidates, this is a voter initiative and our main audience is the voters. However, forcing them to take a public stand may be a pretty good strategy. Having it on a public debate will help point out how onerous, overbearing, and burdensome the measure actually is. Getting Kotek to justify costs, funding, and administrative burden will be a good piece of video to use against her.

Big question.

This thread was made on Tuesday. It is now Friday. We've known about IP17-18 and now Measure 114 for a few weeks in multiple threads.

This measure is coming up for vote this November.

WHY IN THE F IS THIS THREAD NOT STICKED???!!!

do you hate your/ours rights?

@Moderators @Joe Link

To help drive a point home:

About Northwest Firearms

We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.

So either this is false advertising or people are asleep behind the wheel.

Receipt:

I highly encourage you all to ask site staff why 0 action is being taken to help out that would take them a few simple clicks and maybe less than 5 minutes of their lives to help defend YOUR rights.

i had a the nw regional director of the NRA call me, she was great, they do have a serious plan coming. they have to follow protocall, but are in the process of the PAC filing w the state and said after labor day should have green light from SOS to raise money, paid petitioners, advertising, etc.
She said they didnt want to show their cards too early, and supposedly Betsy has been downgraded by NRA she was a A+ but i think she said she went down to a C- due to her debate and was willing to put age restrictions on gun purchases. Drazen seems to be their candidate but they wont release who they back early on.
i believe there is hope. She acknowledged that the Nation is watching this and if it passes in oregon it will become the Norm for the anti gun states

Really. Meanwhile, there’s cobwebs growing on most of the currently pinned threads.

Another thing to think about.

Just a couple years ago there was increased racial tensions between police and PoC. The police were villified for being racists who racially profiled minorities and targeted them more predominantly as we seen blasted all over the media.

In what good sense then, I ask, does it help to put a permit scheme that only those same evil racist police can train and grant you the privilege to?.

Think about it. After George Floyd and the myriad of other police shootings on minorities do you really think they'll be trusting the police to get training that were villified the last few years if they are already profiled and targeted?.

To the whites who supported the movements and PoC organizations why would you vote in favor of measure 114 knowing you were all for defunding police and acknowledging the racial tension, why would you support such a dirty measure?.

What good sense does it make to throw minorities at the very same system you declared attacks them for fun. How do you think they feel knowing you supported it?

So this thread is basically just treading water, which confirms my belief that there are many people on this forum who are going to be in for a nice surprise when they open their ballots in November!

Since it isn’t stickied I think the next step is to just start plastering links to this thread or sites with information about 114 in other “hotspots” on this forum.

I think someone in the previous IP 17 thread mentioned dropping information to new members in the introduction threads; that seems like a great place to start!

I believe Oregon Measure 114 violates the Single-subject rule of the initiative process in Oregon as there are several different items on this ballot measure.
Oregon Measure 114 violates the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 14th amendments of the Constitution as well as 18 U.S. Code § 241 - Conspiracy against rights and 18 U.S. Code § 242 – Deprivation of rights under color of law.
Oregon Measure 114 violates Section 1, Section 27 of the Oregon State Constitution that says 'Right to bear arms; military subordinate to civil power. The people shall have the right to bear arms for the defence [sic] of themselves, and the State, but the Military shall be kept in strict subordination to the civil power'
Oregon Measure 114 requires a 'permit to buy' a firearm, which is akin to a Firearm Owners Identification Card which was ruled as being unconstitutional under the second amendment of the United States Constitution in one state. This 'permit to buy' scheme, a kind of poll tax (which is both illegal and unconstitutional), reduces an unalienable right, which in this case, is the exercising of the 2nd Amendment to that of a government granted privilege. This 'permit to buy' scheme will put an undue burden on some people who wish to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights due to the impossibility of being able to meet many of the requirements put forth in this ballot measure.
I feel that Oregon Measure 114 violates some aspects of the recent United States Supreme Court ruling regarding the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen case.
The explanatory statement for Oregon Measure 114 is seriously flawed and is designed to confuse, mislead, and hide the facts from the voters.

Finally, when seconds count, the police are minutes, sometimes even hours away which means that I am obligated to be my own first responder.

I kind of doubt the Secretary of State, Ms. Fagan, even read Measure 114. For if she did, she would have realized that almost every aspect of this measure is misleading and unconstitutional and would have denied it from ever being on the ballot.

Needless to say, I will vote 'NO' on this measure, and I will recommend to my family and all my friends in Oregon to vote 'NO' on Measure 114 as well.
I am not sure it violates the single subject rule as it all pertains to firearms? If the measure contained a permit to purchase requirement for firearms and a statewide ban on saltwater taffy then it would more clearly be a violation of the single subject rule. Ultimately judges make the decision on whether it does or doesn't violate the rule.

I can't remember the last time I looked at a stickied thread. I always just skip them. If this thread were stickied I literally would never see it most likely.

Can you post the letter and contact information as well? I believe it benefits everyone to know what the reps are saying and what we can do to help with the fight.

ETA: I found this link to the NRA-ILA website where they break down Measure 114. There's no indication yet as to what action they will take. I'm inclined to put pressure on them, or at least ask about what action they intend to take.
yes i spoke to the regional director for the nw. she said follow the NRA-ILA link, they are getting ready, just after labor day is what she said.. they are filing for their PAC, to start fund raising and possibly pay for people to spread the word.

Curious how the NRA plans to make their case to the average Joe walking down the street. The biggest chunk of Oregon voters polled (as of last weekend) cited Roe v Wade as their biggest issue, over guns, homeless, and everything else. Regardless of how we might feel about Roe, the Supreme Court did not help the 2A Cause in Oregon. For a minute there it was looking pretty good for the GOP. Now I'm not so sure.

I am good with donating to the orgs helping get the word out. They are doing something that needs doing, so long as most the money goes to the project.

I posted an email for the local NRA-ILA rep and got a reply there too. Did you or anyone else also reach out to them? Two orgs helping are better than one.
I get more current information from Gunowners of America (GOA).
I am a member and subscribe to receive frequent updates on most all anti-firearm bubblegum.
I find that resource to be most current, very active and highly recommend.

i disagree 100%. we got heller and bruen! those were huge. Oregon voters should have no worries on Roe? Abortion is legal here, so moot point. but then again we are talking about those that blindly voted for 110 and here we are. crime is up 220%..take away guns and it will increase another 220%.

You can still frame argument in terms of the loss of personal self defense rights and capabilities. One thing pro lifers and pro choicers have in common is concerns of violence, political or normal crime. It isn’t hard to show how 114 interferes with your ability to get self defense under the false claim that it interferes with criminals. They ignore laws, you don’t.
