Luckily this year is a short session, running from February 1st to March 7th. Nonetheless, expect gun rights to be under attack. From OFF:
We expect a flurry of anti-rights bills in February, and while we don't have details on all of them, we'll share what we know so you can prepare.
Senator James Manning … once again introduced a bill to "address both undetectable 3D printed firearms and untraceable "ghost guns," …
Please keep in mind the Democrats have the votes to pass ANYTHING they want.

:

If you live in a district with Republican legislators, please contact them and remind them that after the coming sessions come elections. If they don't fight back this time there will be no reason to vote for them again. We lose nothing by losing representatives who stand by while our freedoms are stripped away.

The new Republican House Leader is Vicki Breese Iverson. Iverson must not agree to any rules that prevent the minority from exercising their constitutional right to deny a quorum.

That means that if the rules they vote on at the beginning of the session contain that provision (which we fully expect they will) the Republicans must walk out on that vote. Period. Anything else is a complete surrender to the extreme agendas of the left.
:
Please consider sending an email to Iverson and strongly urge her to walk out on any vote for rules that include a prohibition on a walk out.
Proposed bills have started appearing on the legislative website. Time is of the essence.

Update from OFF regarding firearm bills:

SB 1577
This is Jim Manning's second try at criminalizing privately made firearms.
HB 4149
This bill claims to hold liable any person or public body for damages that occur in a "gun free zone" if the victim could have protected themselves had they been armed.
HB 4073
This is Marty Wilde's effort to outlaw self defense in Oregon. You have to get to the bottom of the bill but here is the relevant part:

SECTION 6. Notwithstanding ORS 161.190, the justifiable use of physical force in selfdefense or in defending a third person under ORS 161.205 (5) is an affirmative defense when the defendant engaged in, directed or otherwise participated in wrongful conduct that was intended to cause the victim to be unavailable as a witness, and did cause the victim to be unavailable.

We know, it's gibberish, but here is the translation into English.

If you act in self defense, and the person against whom you defended yourself dies, you no longer have a presumption of innocence and will be presumed guilty.

Unfortunately, HB 4073 is still alive. There's a work session scheduled for 2/10.

This bill is, as mentioned above, is an attempt to outlaw self defense in Oregon. In the bill's chief sponsor Marty Wilde's own words:
As the law stands, if a defendant files a claim of self-defense, admitting that they caused the death of another person, they must prove nothing; instead, the state must disprove their claim, beyond a reasonable doubt.
In other words, at the moment, you're innocent until proven guilty. Mr. Wilde's bill would like to invert this, and make you guilty until you prove yourself innocent. Mr. Wilde states that his bill:
Rebalances the law requiring the killer to prove self-defense by a preponderance of the evidence when the defendant has deprived the victim of their life and voice.
Mr. Wilde provides the Kyle Rittenhouse trial as background for this bill.

Edit 1: Note the language used by Mr. Wilde, killer vs. victim.

Edit 2: Oddly, Mr. Wilde makes the following argument against his own bill
The defendant should enjoy a presumption of innocence, even for an affirmative defense.

No police. No self defense. What could possibly go wrong...go wrong... go...wrong....

I want someone to pass a law that says you actually have to be smarter than a horse turd to run for public office, and if you can't tie your shoelaces you aren't allowed to write bills. Because as far as I can tell I scooped more intelligence out of the litter box this morning than what's in this bill.
