The channel 12 news videographer apparently found the un-fired shotgun shell, because he basically parked on it.

on the video at 1:38 - what are we looking at? Looks a bit like primers for black powder guns, but I am not sure.
 
The police sure were hasty in announcing that the vics and perps weren't known to each other. It sounds unlikely to me that the trailer in question was chosen randomly - unless it was kids from the neighboring trailer that did the deed.
