#1 can you still sell an 80% with no jigs or drill's or serial #. yes.
#2 can you sell an 80% with a jig and all the drill's needed to make a receiver without a serial number, NO!

again what part of poking the bear and not expecting it to get a stick did these people not expect?

#1, that theory is being tested but it's not a resounding "yes". Polymer frames (vs. receiver) they are trying to challenge some of the wording, but in all likelihood, it won't wash for long.

80% receivers (vs. frames), that typically never come with jigs or tools now require an FFL and both frame and receiver have the same requirement verbage, so.... do the math where it's all likely heading.

I don't agree anyone is poking the bear. The 'bear" is actively coming after us and we are the ones in defense mode. Remembering that their whole argument is, "it's too easy for you to exercise your constitutionally protected right."

Anyone else see a problem with that?

Just like them using the example of a few bad eggs using firearms for evil purposes to paint every single gun owner as "evil", they are using a few bad eggs that used 80% frames/receivers to commit crimes and now painting EVERY person using an 80% as criminals. Same difference.

The fact that they are not serialized further vilifies them, but let's be honest about the facts. A firearm with a serial number only leads to the identity of a bad actor in about 1.3% of firearm related crimes. That's "all crimes"and is likely more in the cases of domestic violence where the bad actor is already known using personally owned firearms they had legally obtained for personal use. Violent crimes against the general public, mass shootings, etc. I highly doubt many of those are identifiable by serial number.

Granted, some may be, but still... is curtailing an enitre populations rights jutifiable under a "if 1 does it, none of you can" policy?
