All US hospitals are supposed to put up there prices online starting yesterday. I could only find one for Legacy hospitals but they sure hid it good. I cant find anything on the other hospitals. Either they did not do it or are hiding it well.

Hospital Pricing

Interesting to see what they charge. Not a final price of course. But like one screw for an orthopedic procedure costs $75. (insurance will pay something like 40-60% of that)
Drill bit costs $1700
Single tylenol suppository costs $6
This stent costs $27,000

Interesting to me, perhaps you guys as well. I didnt even know these costs when I worked for a hospital

They should show both their "list price" as well as the average price paid by insurance companies. The list price is nowhere near to actual prices negotiated by the insurance companies. If a person has no health insurance they need to negotiate.

Insurance is a scam as far as I can tell.

Had a Doctor (best Doc I've ever had in fact) run a cash (card) only practice and it was suprisingly very cost effective vs the cost of monthly insurance payments and co-pays.

I believe it cost him money just to even file an insurance claim and that added to his overhead so he just stopped doing it.

He died a few years ago but had a very interesting carrier and outlook on Medicine.

The link by Bolus for Legacy Health breaks it down by hospital. It opens as an Excel spreadsheet. Not even formatted. Not sure if you can open it without Microsoft Office on your computer.

$86,442 for a cadaver kidney!

They did the least amount of work to format it, most certainly to make it as least readable to the average person as possible.

only about $1000 to pull a foreign object out of someone's butt with an anoscope. I thought that would be higher.

How much to extract a Democrat/Gun Grabber's head, given the additional complications of extreme spinal flexing and shoulders obstructing the approach? LOL

I have a friend who's husband is a lawyer. They have 3 boys all in or out of high school. They have never had insurance.
He pays cash for everything.
It's usually cheaper in the long run unless you have a severe injury.

I have another friend who broke his neck diving into a pool. Lifeflight alone was about $26,000.
2 months in ICU, another 10months in the hospital/in out patient care.
After that year he was well over $2 million in expenses. Insurance was real helpful on that one.

Put me down for the tylenol suppository. Mere pocket change.
Edit: while i'm at it, suppositories for everyone! Courtesy of Cigars, your benevolent dictator.

After my two cancer surgeries and (subsequent rounds chemo treatments) I am not surprised at the cost. We got an itemized bill from the hospital both times with all the charges that were incurred and we are thankful that I had/have double coverage and good insurance plans on top of that!!
